Lauryn Hill: Pregnant Again, & Killing Bitches Softly

So Lauryn Hill announced recently that she is currently pregnant with her sixth child. Yep, way to go Lauryn!!! But it would seem that this announcement has a few sisters around the interwebs a bit upset. According to them and their chatter, this is so not good news. Supposedly, Lauryn has been having all these babies by Rohan Marley, son of the late great Bob Marley, who is a married man. And of course having six kids by a married man just ain't the thing to do. Yes, Lauryn Hill's vagina has been making Black women look bad.

Now what I'm about to say my seem highly hypocritical given the way I pretty much shitted on Fanbtasia last year for getting caught up and becoming pregnant by a married man (read here). But this one is a little bit different, folks. In my defense, I'ma be real: Fantasia ain't no Lauryn Hill. Not shitting on Fantasia again, but, the only sisters she has ever given a sense of empowerment too is your everyday alleged hood rat. You might not agree, but that's what I think. Besides, if hood rats were really empowered by Fantasia, her shit would sell more than Lauryn's "Miseducation..." album, thus giving Fantasia the opportunity to be on a 25yr hiatus, but I digress.

So where was I? Oh yeah, Black women upset because Lauryn Hill's vagina is making all Black women look bad, "because you know how they always look at Black women as trifling single women on welfare 'n shit, RiPPa." Alright, so yes, this stereotype has been around forever and a day now, but using Lauryn Hill being a single Black mother as emblematic of a problem supposedly exclusive to Black women? Umm, get the fuck outta here with that bullshit. No seriously, miss me with garbage, people. Y'all are too caught up in what them white folks certain people think about you. Yes, all of a sudden y'all scared to eat fried chicken and watermelon in public, because, well, you know to do so will make you "too Black" in the eyes of white folks... who do the same thing.

Stop the bullshit, people...

Listen ladies, Lauryn Hill can have six kids by a married man if she so chooses. She represents Lauryn, and by extension the Hill family, and not all Black women. Unless she owes you babysitting money, shut your damn mouth. Besides, she still has Fugees money, and isn't down at the social services office signing up for Section 8 and Food Stamps. And, she's able to avoid doing that because "Killing Me Softly" is still number one in some third world country right now. She can afford to have a small African village fall out of her coochie should she choose. But you on the other hand? You wrote poems in high school that will never be published; you're single, broke, and you're mad you never got your tubes tied after baby number three. Yep, hardly a position of female empowerment; but the struggle continues.

The Problem With Beyonce's "Run The World (Girls)"

Beyonce and her army of girls who run the world in lingerie...

As a fan of Diplo and "Pon De Floor", I was curious about Beyonce's new song "Run The World (Girls)".  I mean, she samples Diplo's cut, so I wanted to see if she turned it into fire.  In my opinion, she did not.  Naturally, as with everything Beyonce does, there is always a lot of PR and press so we were treated to pictures of her on what seemed like an elaborate, dystopian world type of set.  It looked intriguing.  I'm not a Beyonce stan, but I've liked some of her work.  I wanted to see if the video would at least be worth it.  It was amusing if anything... If the concept at the core of Beyonce's video is what the world would look like if "girls" ran things, then we've seriously screwed up this whole suffrage/women's liberation deal up.  Hide your daughters...

Slave Catcher of the Week: Spike Lee? Really, Clifton Powell?? No, not you, Spike!!!

I didn't really get all into the supposed beef between Spike Lee and Tyler Perry. Of course you can look at the banner on this site and you can figure it out pretty quickly, that I'm down with Spike; yes Tyler Perry, say something and imma start a boycott like we did Sal's Famous Pizzaria, son! But anyway, my man "Pinky" appeared on the Russ Parr Morning Show recently, and when asked to share his thoughts on the beef, he went smooth the eff off, son. I mean he put some stuff out there on my man Spike that makes me know if it's true.

Check it out:

"To be honest, I don't like Spike Lee. Spike is worse than any one of the mans [sp]. Because back in the day...and I hope Spike is listening cause I'll beat your punk ass. I don't like Spike. I have never said it publicly out, but Spike is a hater...I shouldn't have said it like this, but I'm going to tell you the truth. I'm from the streets and you got to take care of your people...Spike needs to go sit his punk ass down and stop talking about Tyler Perry. Tyler Perry was homeless about 10, 12 years ago and Spike wasn't writing him no checks. I don't like Spike Lee because I don't like his politics as it pertains to how he deals with African-Americans. I auditioned for Spike several times, he kept all of us waiting for hours. It was insulting, he made people fly across country, pay for themselves and come to auditions. Spike is the worst and he needs to go sit his punk ass down!"

-- Actor Clifton Powell voices his opinion on the ongoing feud between Tyler Perry and Spike Lee. (The Russ Parr Morning Show)

I'ono what Spike has to say about this. But I'ma need a response from Spike. This Negro had brothas and sistas runnin' around in 1989 wearing African medallions, Malcolm X baseball caps screaming "fight the power!!" Yes I'm not really a fan of Tyler Perry's work; and no, this doesn't mean I refuse to watch his productions. But somehow someway, I never pictured Spike Lee as the slave catcher type. Tyler Perry? Well... Gimme a call, Spike; yep, do it for Radio Raheem, son. Uh-huh, clear the air on this one, my brother.

Screw Joe Budden and The Apologists for Abuse

Let me go ahead and premise this by saying that if you want to do war on this post, a war is what you will get.  Whenever I do posts like these, the "zombies" come out as if I were on set for AMC's The Walking Dead.  If you are a zombie, I've got the bullets in the chamber and I'm a crackshot.  Now, let's go'n ahead and dissect the latest fuckery.

I'm going to do a very quick recap.  Apparently, several weeks ago Joe Budden recorded a song disparaging an ex-girlfriend, one Esther Baxter, who is a video model.  He indicates that she cheated on him, hurt him, etc. She responds that she never did that, and went one step further, speaking about the abuse that she had to deal with while in a relationship with this guy.

Here's what she said (via NecoleBitchie.com)
Last week, Budden blasted Esther Baxter on a song where he detailed their dysfunctional relationship which he claims ended after she cheated on him with a football player. In retaliation, Esther took to her twitter and threatened to expose Joe for abusing her and making her have a miscarriage. Esther stuck to her word and released photos of her battered and bruised to Bossip (as well as a few inappropriate photos of the fetus she says that she lost). She also granted them a sit down, Barbara Walter style interview where she claims Joe:

“kicked the door down, came into the room, grabbed me by my ankles, choked me so that I couldn’t breathe, slammed me against the door…in an attempt to grab the phone from me he wrestled me, grabbed me by my wrist and sat on my stomach while I was pregnant. [..] I went to the hospital and that’s when I found out I lost my daughter.

She went on to say that before hooking up with Budden, she had no knowledge of his past relationship history and that she eventually dropped the charges against him because she was embarrassed and didn’t want their drama to go public.

“I didn’t want this to go public. It was already embarrassing enough that this has happened to me. I never in my life thought that I would be abused, and further more, lose a child because of it. So in order for it to not go public, I dropped all of the charges with the agreement and understanding that neither of us would ever talk about it.I didn’t cheat on him. We weren’t together, we aren’t together now. We broke up that night that he decided to take this argument and make it physical. I don’t know why anyone would ever want to tell someone that they did something like this.
I have not heard the song because I don't assault my eardrums with anything coming from Joe Budden's mouth (I've never liked his music, and I find nothing appealing about him as an artist), but some indicated that he admitted to abusing her on this "diss" track.  However, for whatever reason, he opted to pull a Ronnie from Jersey Shore and "deny, deny, deny!"  He even dragged Chris Brown into it and in the process of apologizing for laughing at Chris Brown's expense, showed his true colors in indicating that he had no issues with what Chris Brown did:
On his Chris Brown tweet

Then I felt bad, aside from me being a big Chris Brown fan, he’s somebody that really went through it. He really got put through the wringer because of domestic abuse. So, it made me take a step back. I’m sitting here laughing at it all because I know it’s not true in this instance. You know, in his instance it happened and they hung him for it. I apologize to him, it was the right thing to do.
He was PUNISHED for it and reviled for it, but he certainly has not been hung for anything.  That's beside the point, and I don't want to get into that.  When I read this over at Necole's blog, I steeled myself for the fuckery in comments.  More people came to her defense than with Rihanna's.  That was a plus.  Matter of fact this comment summed up what I was thinking perfectly:
Same shit everyone (mostly women) did to Rihanna. If there’s one thing I learned over the course of the last few years it’s that the black community has no respect for women. There’s no way that two who have been assaulted by men (there’s proof, physical evidence! It’s undebateable!) and people are joking about it. Or worse, saying, “well she must have done something to deserve it.” F*ck that yo. I’m disgusted. More so with the women who are riding with these men. F*ck a Joe Budden and anyone who tries to rationalize his bullshit. -ChicaGo-Getter
If that person is disgusted, they are obviously new to this, because I ceased being disgusted years ago.  Now I'm between livid and fighting mad.  I've gotten into these dogfights before on this blog and others and it is emotionally draining especially when you KNOW you are right.  Luckily, the comments weren't as vomit inducing as the ones that were present when Rihanna was beat the hell down.  I didn't have the sudden urge to pray for Jesus' second coming over and over again like previous events.  Of course, there was going to be a faction of zombies to come to his defense as witnessed by this video of his interview with The Breakfast Club (click here to see interview).

Michelle Obama Invites "Gangster Rapper" To The White House, & Guess Who's Mad

"Now Black music is Black music, and it's allgood, I wasn't salty she was with the boys in the hood." -- Common; "I Used To Love H.E.R."

Oh Lordy or Lordy, look what Michelle Obama dun did now up the the white people's White House. She dun seriously up and dun it inviting one a dem dar Chicago gansta' rappers she used to live next to to the White House. Word has it that she's having a poetry reading session on Wednesday, but I ain't buying it.

It's bad enuff that them Obama Kenyans dun defiled the sanctity of the one true symbol of whiteness and err'thing right with Amuur'cuh by even living there. And now, they finna have this Negro and his posse bussin' spades, making it rain on hoes, and whatever else them there drug dealing Negroes do.

Of course them dar white folks over at The Daily Caller is madder den a mugg over tghis and had something to say about it. And lemme tell you, at last count, there was 274 comments mostly in disgust after the following post. Let's just say, judging from the comments, Flava Flav better tear up his invitation:
First Lady Michelle Obama has scheduled a poetry evening for Wednesday, and she’s invited several poets, including a successful Chicago poet and rapper, Lonnie Rashid Lynn, Jr., AKA “Common.” However, Lynn is quite controversial, in part because his poetry includes threats to shoot police and at least one passage calling for the “burn[ing]” of then-President George W. Bush.

Back in 2003, First Lady Laura Bush held a poetry evening, and she invited several poets to reprise the work of Emily Dickinson, Langston Hughes and Walt Whitman. Although none of those poets had urged violence against a president, Bush canceled the event after left-of-center poets protested and threatened to disrupt the event. (read more)
Oh well, lemme g'head and enjoy Common while I can; at least the pre-gangsta rapper Common; you know, back when he was less gangsta?
Sarah Palin jumped on the bandwagon, tweeting the Daily Caller story with a comment “Oh, lovely White House” — the virtual equivalent of rolling her eyes.

Pajamas Media, another conservative site, says Common supports Mumia Abu Jamal, convicted in the 1981 killing of a Philadelphia police officer, and was a member, along with the Obamas, of Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago, where Rev. Jeremiah Wright served as pastor. The rapper defended Wright during the 2008 campaign as Obama distanced himself from the controversial minister. The video below shows Wright in the background as Common performs.

A Fox News site called the multiple Grammy-winner a “vile rapper.” Common, who has also acted in several films, including "American Gangster" and "Terminator Salvation," also performed at a 2009 inaugural ball. (source)
Yeah, ain't no tellin' how much more gangsta' he's gonna get once he leaves the White House as he becomes more untouchable and public enemy number one, while Obama's still in office (watch this). Yep, big shouts out to the city of Chicago and all my peoples who live there; been a minute, but we'll kick it soon.

Uncle Luke for Mayor

by Eco.Soul.Intellectual

If a gun-slinging action cowboy in Western movies can be president of the US, a steroid-toting killing machine in Sci-Fi flicks can be governor of California, a wrestler can be Governor of Minnesota then I think Uncle Luke, the grand-daddy of pussy-poppin', booty-poppin', free speech music should be the mayor of Miami. White men can't have all the power and fun.

If anyone can wake a sleeping giant in Miami, I do believe Uncle Luke will at the very least stir something up.

Let's hope his candidacy is more than a one might stand and a $1 lap dance.

And since Luke has been immersed in some of the raunchiest environments that has come out of rap music, he doesn't have much to hide.

We've seen so many sex scandals that make Luke appear, well, somewhat normal, at this point, let's allow him to direct his energy to another avenue of productive citizenship.

But what would Miami look like if he'd win:

  1. Inauguration night will be an all-white, bass music, booty shaking, Reggaeton carnival in Dade County.
  2. Real Housewives of Miami would cast more than Cuban chicks who have too much plastic surgery and look like they've been around the Florida peninsula too many times.
  3. Strip clubs would be tax exempt and churches would be taxed as "for-profits".
  4. Fidel Castro would be in the front row of the inauguration, waiting for Latina video vixens ready for la revolucion!
  5. Every one of Luke's baby-mama's and dancers would go straight to child support.
All I gotta say is, don't stop get it, get it!

I had to go back to my high school days when I was in shape and could pop, lock it drop it.

Chris Brown Still Devoid of Common Sense and Wisdom With "Spend It All" Video (NSFW)

CBE - Spend It All (18+) from Mechanical Dummy on Vimeo.

And we're back...

Back to bullshit, what? Two to three weeks since his little temper tantrum/rabid beast impression on Good Morning America? You give this guy an inch and he'll take miles apparently.

I've got to give it to Chris Brown. This guy is blessed. If anyone is a testament to the existence of God and His ability to "go before us" and soften the hearts of people, it's Brown. Yes, I have to use the divine to explain how he can basically be an example of privilege, either due to his wealth and/or his sex. This is why I always beware of people who will bring up white actors like Gibson and Sheen in juxtaposition to Brown and cry racism. Sure, Chris may have been dealt with differently, but at the end of the day, they ALL got aways scott free. I mean, has any one of them really suffered? Not really.

If you check the comments for this video at NecoleBitchie.com, you can see that I'm not the only one who found this video to be nothing more but a bullshit move on a number of levels. And I can assure you that Necole's comments section is very friendly to Chris Brown. When his stans are "pausing," then you know he's fucked up. I mean, the guy could probably marry Satan's daughter and start WWIII and he still would have his fans defend him to the death:

ughhhhh i’m so mad at him for this lol. His fans were even going in on him on twitter, why would he do this? Everything was going all good, number one album, lamn going platinum, he wasnt on twitter as much so everything was peaceful lol and then this. -___- Not cool…at all.
There are more in this same vein. You have some die-hards who still ride for him, but it appears as though they are outnumbered.

You may be asking why it matters that he does a video with strippers. In the grand scheme of the misogynistic Hip-Hop and R&B world where tits and ass are cheap currency, it really doesn't matter. He's no different than Lil' Wayne or Jay-Z or anyone else with a penchant for tacky videos featuring strippers doing stupid shit for some change and a spray of baby oil. The world doesn't always work that way though. Our actions don't always get to pass because they are measured against that of the masses. Sometimes our actions stand alone, regardless of what anyone else is doing. Chris Brown should understand this.

This is what happens when someone can destroy property, beat the shit out of Rihanna--a victim of abuse by her father, and vulnerable because of this fact--physically intimidate people, flee the scene, rant on Twitter, rant on camera, bullshit on camera, etc. and not face any kind of repercussions for it. We get videos where he just puts up a middle finger to his original fan base, his new fans, and the world. Where are his handlers? Where is his PR person? Do they even care to rebuild his persona as someone who was "sugar sweet" or are they going for this "bad boy who doesn't give a fuck" look? If so, why?  Why would anyone intentionally present themselves as revelling in being a pariah?

Rutgers University Pays "Snooki" $32,000 for Appearance, Toni Morrison, Not So Much

Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi from 'Jersey Shore' spoke at Rutgers University and told students to "study hard, but party harder," and got paid $32,000 to do so. Meanwhile, Nobel Prize-winning author and scholar Toni Morrison is scheduled to speak at Rutgers' commencement ceremony next month, and is being paid less. OK, so its $2000 less, but still...

There's a racial angle in there somewhere, but score one for dumb broads who don't read. I mean, nobody actually cares about the fact that the median net worth of single Black women being $5 as compared to white women who in their prime working years (36-49) have a median wealth of $42,000, according to the Insight Center for Community Economic Development's "Lifting as We Climb" study conducted last year. But like I said, there just might be a racial angle in there somewhere; either that or I'm just reaching. I ain't sayin' she a gold-digger, but she ain't messin' with no broke broke...

My baby sister, the youngest of the RiPPa clan attends Rutgers, and suddenly I'm afraid. Suddenly I'm concerned about her party to study ratio, and I can only hope that she uses good judgment in that regard. As hooked on celebrity as society has become in recent years, it would be a shame if were to eventually flunk out of college after following the advice of a television reality show star.

Even more troubling was the fact that Snooki was paid by funds via the mandatory student activity fees, which is funded by student tuition. I guess that in itself is no surprise since here in America, you get what you pay for. Which reminds me of why I don't feel so bad about missing Steve Harvey's book signing appearance at Barnes & Nobles here in Memphis today. Or maybe I'll go and see if he'll gimme a dollar after I ask him for it. What? I'm famous, bitch; I own and operate a friggin' blog!! Yeah, fuck college!!!

Jungle Fever: Halle Berry, Interracial Dating & the Politics of Blackness

The media is running rampant with the custody battle over the daughter of Halle Berry and Gabriel Aubry, Nahla. Instead of focusing on the future of this darling child, the conversation has been framed within allegations of racism and hostility between the parents. The controversy has some fans wondering if the "Losing Isaiah" beauty is actually losing her mind after losing her relationship.

Method acting, the process whereby an actor takes on the life of their character outside of filming, is not new to Ms. Berry. Her first on-screen performance in 1989's "Living Dolls" sparked rumors that Halle was getting a little too into her character, playing her parts even after the camera had stopped rolling. Given her most recent tendency to focus on psychological dramas, perhaps her method acting is re-surfacing?

Mental illness is not something to be taken lightly (especially given the social stigma attached to it). So, the speculation around Ms. Berry's mental health needs to be analyzed carefully not only for her sake but also for her daughter's (should Halle win full custody).

The Berry/Aubry racism show-down brought the one-drop rule back into national dialogue (it never left for some of us). While America rides this "multi-racial" bandwagon, which for some has become the neo-liberal agenda of promoting colorblindness or an erasure of racial distinctions, Halle raises an interesting point by claiming her daughter as Blackn and asserting her own Blackness. What is Black?

Gabriel Aubry to Halle Berry: My Kid is White, 'One Drop Rule' My Ass, Black Girl

So here I was, just sitting and enjoying yet another day of Black History Month as I basked in the glow of post-racialness of the Obama era. And then my buddy @BenJoBubble just had to ruin the ambiance of it all by introducing me to the fuckery that follows involving Halle Berry and her ex; yup, the white boy:
A simple split has become a nasty race war, and now, it's going back to the ugliest time in American history.

Halle Berry and Gabriel Aubry, battling for custody of their daughter Nahla, have both thrown some mud, but after word about Aubry's alleged racism got out, Berry is firing back.

In a new interview with EBONY Magazine, Berry says (via TMZ), "I feel she's Black. I'm Black and I'm her mother, and I believe in the one-drop theory."

That goes against the wishes of Aubry, who, allegedly, doesn't like when people call Nahla black. That's inconvenient for Berry, who, according to sources, told Aubry he was only good for one thing -- sperm of a different genetic makeup than her own.

Berry's people have also leaked out that Nahla is supposedly afraid to go near Aubry, though the truth seems far too elusive to grab at this point. (source)
First off, lemme just say that both of these parents should be chopped in the throat for this mess. Yes I know divorce isn't always amicable, but the nerve of these clowns bringing the kid into the mix. And about race, too? OK, yeah, it's alleged that Gabriel called Halle a "nigger". But isn't something like the race of any potential kids something that should've been established in the pre-nup?

Crazy Bitch: "Diddy Owes Me $100 Zillions"

Not to be outdone by Hubert or Dennis in the loony lawsuit contest, some deranged woman in Los Angeles has filed a domestic violence petition against American superstar musician, Sean Puff Daddy Puffy P Diddy Combs, claiming he owes her some $900,000,000,000 in child support, $10,000,000,000 in "lost of income," and a Mississippi casino chip valued at "over $100 zillions of dollars" ... give or take a straitjacket.

In her petition, the delusional damsel detailed the abuse allegedly dealt by Diddy:
He went through Kim Porter and Rodney King and knocked down the WTC and then they all came and knocked me and my children down.
Wait, he who wha..? He went "through" people? And Rodney King, no less? Yo, it took almost the entire LAPD to take that mofo down. But Diddy went right "through" him? And Kim Porter. And then Diddy knocked down the WTC. WTF? Is Diddy some kind of comic book villain now??

Free Xone: How Tyler Perry Made Janet A Homophobe

by Johnny Golightly

Today, Janet Jackson released her U.S tour dates for the "Janet Jackson Number Ones, Up Close and Personal" Tour. This release brought back memories of some of her other recent releases--movies like "Why Did I Get Married Too?" and "For Colored Girls".

We all remember that there's one rule: no rules. One love: free xone. Janet's Velvet Rope classic holds new meaning after the latest rounds of Janet Jackson/Tyler Perry collaborations.

"Free Xone" was a liberating song that addressed the freedom to love whoever you wanted to love--heterosexually, homosexually, bisexually, pansexually. Now I'm far too young to comment on when exactly Janet Jackson became a gay icon, but there is no denying she is one.

Janet has followed suit to those before and after her, grouped with legends like Diana, Cher, Babs (Barbra Streisand), Madonna, Beyonce, Gaga and all the other one-name wonders. It seems only tradition that when a female icon gains a large gay male following, we shorten her to a one-name moniker. My experiences tell me it is out of honor that her name is shortened because she doesn't need her full name--you know her by her presence. Not to mention the fact that Janet spoke to queer people of color in a contemporary moment where the face of gay men is a white face. She allowed all queer people of color to have at least one Black icon in a mainstream industry consumed by white music artists. Janet was the generation's chosen one, with Diana before her and Beyonce after her.

Now, let's not even front. We all know Janet can't act. From "Good Times" right on through "Poetic Justice" all the way to "For Colored Girls", Janet has been giving us the same persona highlighting her acting capabilities. But we all still go out and support Janet, cause we want to see her. I mean, we didn't all line up to go see "The Hand that Rocks the.." err, "Obsessed" because we thought it was gonna win an Oscar. We wanted to see Bey. That's what a lot of gay fans do--we go to support our artists, because we admire their aesthetic--physical and artistic. This same logic informs a lot of gay men's decision to see the latest Janet movie.

You Know It's Bad When All You Have is BET

Chrisette Michelle
by Eco.Soul.Intellectual

Dare I say it? I swear I don't want to, but I gotta be honest. BET is the only cable network that consistently features black talent. People, I'm scared right now. How did we come back to the same place we were in the 80s? Absolutely few outlets are celebrating the spine of American music, and the breath of global music---soul music.

So I caught a rerun of the Soul Train Awards (oops sorry, I was watching the Eagles game that night) and enjoyed the Anita Baker Tribute. It was refreshing and sad to see phenomenal vocalists that have limited exposure or have been white-washed out of the industry.

Take for example, the genius Rachelle Ferrell. When I was reporting, people said Rachelle would not make it due to her facial expressions.

Have you ever seen them? Nicki Minaj's twisted big mouth ain't got shit on her.

But the melody that comes out of her mouth. Bee-u-tee-ful. And then there was Kem, my gurl Chrisette, Faith (I'm still rocking 'Soon As I Get Home') and Lalah Hathaway.

Then in between the commercials there were performances by Eric Benet, Tank, and other people desperately attempt to revive a career or maintain a fleeting one. If you are an artist in this business, and you think that only good music and the people's choice gets radio play, you are bound to get the creative spirit kicked out of you.

BREAKING NEWS: Kim Kardashian Dating Uncle Ben!

by Gary Hardwick

Running out of famous Black athletes to sleep with, Kim K runs her booty game on an old school legend.

HOLLYWOOD - The reality show world was rocked today when it was announced that celebutard Kim Kardashian was in "a very serious" relationship with rice magnate Uncle Ben.  The two have been seen snuggling and kissing all around L.A.

"Kim's in love," said one anonymous friend.  'She likes her men black and rich, I guess she doesn't cares about age."

Many in the gossip community think Kardashian and her sisters are goldiggers, targeting rich, not too bright black athletes to marry and mate with.  One report said Kim K. and her sister had a leather-bound copy of the NFL and NBA Salary Report, looking for prospects.  Kim was reported to have said. "They really should list IQ's in here next to the signing bonuses."

Local "Church" Raises $150,000 Impersonating Rapper Master P. in Scam Employs "Crackheads", "ex-Felons", & Welfare Recipients

Make 'Em Say What Tha F@%k!
The city of Memphis TN. has a huge problem with panhandlers [watch this]. So much so, that they recently passed a new ordinance to which the "lemme hold a dollar man," has to adhere to; no seriously, it's really that bad.

Now, I don't have a problem with people begging for money. And, for the most part depending on how I feel, I may "donate" without even questioning just where my money is going, and for what cause it's being used.

Yes, like you, I've questioned the genuineness of a solicitor for funds - be it the guy on the street, or someone calling me at home. But for the most part, it doesn't determine my willingness to give to the needy. And by needy I'm not talking about the guy with the whiskey stank breath either...

Because I'm a giver...!

Well, that is unless someone pulls off the ultimate scam that may piss you off; a scam much like my fellow Memphian, Alisa R. Harris of South Memphis was able to pull off, until being exposed. No seriously, this is a trip:

Well, you know they say the road to hell is paved with people with good intentions, bibles, Master P's cell phone service, and rusty No Limit platinum chains. So, naturally this being a city with an enormous panhandling problem located in the bible belt where there are churches on every corner...

It isn't surprising that someone here had the gall to go to the lengths as Harris has, to take advantage of poor folks as she has. The burning question I've had since seeing this story on my local news is: why Master P.? Sure he's obscure and forgotten, but why associate the name of his brother - Corey Miller aka C. Murder - with your organization when he's currently serving time for murder?

I'm gonna continue donating to the needy as I always have. I realize stuff like this happens all the time across the country. But the next panhandler I encounter downtown, I'mma make 'em say "uuuughhh!" And as for Alisa R. Harris? I guess the sistah is just "Bout It, Bout It" like that.

What's With The Rabid Chris Brown Fans?

Attention Chris Brown stans: I'm waiting for you, you hear me? I see you on all the blogs, especially after Mr. Brown's performance at the BET Awards, going off on anyone that does not and did not fall in awe at the feet of your messiah. The attacks are always the same fare:

"Get a life!"

"He still makes more money than you!"

"He still has adoring fans."

"Your blog sucks!"

Oh, I am so ready for your rabid, yet ineffective vitriol. Bring. IT. ON. I'm letting you know right now that while Mr. Brown might have more in his bank account than I do, and has a cult of zombies who would eat their own mothers' brains if he so much as hinted at it, and all that jazz, at least I don't have a criminal record thanks to giving a beat down to a defenseless person who was smaller and frailer than me. No misdemeanors and no felonies on my end. No, sir...

On a serious note, I'm hoping to prevent a lot of the drama that unfolds in the comments sections
whenever anyone has the "nerve" to mention anything about Chris, even if it's not unkind. It can never be kind enough, if you ask his fans. Even women who have been previously abused themselves, came to his defense, and in effect showing that they are still mentally abused, even if they've escaped the physical abuse.

I'm not here to question whether or not Chris was sincere or not. I almost think it's inappropriate to do so. I don't care enough to rip someone's brain apart in that way. I hope he was sincere and I hope that his "breakdown" is a sign of better things to come for him. However, it doesn't mean that I or anyone else should automatically give him a pass or forgive him for his actions. If anything, I think he was a day late and a dollar short. Had we seen this type of emotion on his part after his attack and abuse came to light, he might have stood a chance. Instead he retreated into the enabling of people whose collective self-esteem is suspect to me.

It's almost hard to do so, because I feel like I am joining a group of people that have always been on his side, even when it was clear that he hit a woman. I just don't want to join that chorus because it appears to me that their forgiveness was never earned, it was always there, waiting and eager. They often speak about forgiving Chris, and go on to remind us that we all sin--as if we didn't know this already--so therefore we should forgive easily and quickly.

Cocaine's A Helluva Drug!: Lawrence Taylor arrested for rape of 15yr old girl

So I'm thinking official last words from the backseat of a police car: "What! She was 15?? Hell naw son, somebody musta slipped some crack rocks in my Nutrisystem, or sumthin!!"
The former New York Giants linebacker Lawrence Taylor was arrested early Thursday morning and will be charged with third-degree rape involving a 15-year-old girl at a hotel in Montebello, N.Y., according to police.

The Journal News reported that the girl was a runaway from the Bronx who was taken to the Holiday Inn in Montebello by a pimp, according to Ramapo supervisor Christopher St. Lawrence. She was treated at a hospital.

“She was a runaway since March and there was a pimp involved,” Mr. St. Lawrence told the Journal News. “She got punched in the face. We’re not sure who did it.”

The police have scheduled a news conference for 3 p.m. to discuss the case, and have said Mr. Taylor will be arraigned on third-degree rape charges this afternoon because the victim is a minor.

Mr. Taylor, 51, lists his residence as Pembroke Pines, Fla., but he also owns a home in northern New Jersey. Montebello, a village in Rockland County about 25 miles north of New York City, is close to the New York-New Jersey state line; the hotel is located just off the New York Thruway. (Source: New York Times)
Sucks to be Lawrence Taylor right now especially with his well known checkered past of drug abuse. He was the guy that I truly rooted for to stay on the right path while traveling down the road of recovery. Something tells me that drugs was involved - it's the only way (I think) he would have been in a situation like that where a pimp and a hooker is involved. I could be wrong, but I doubt seriously whether 15yr old prostitutes are complimentary services these days; and, usually when there's drugs and a hotel room, there are women. Even he has admitted to this in an interview on 60 Minutes some years ago.

I mean, when you're Lawrence Taylor, and you're in New York City where you've lead the home team to two Super bowl victories? Chances are, you don't have to pay to get laid; people pay you just to be seen with you, whether you're a recovering addict or not. Oh well, too bad he's retired and in the Pro Football Hall of Fame. If he were a current white player with a recent Super Bowl victory, maybe the charges would be dropped, and all he would have to serve is a six game suspension.

This is gonna be quite interesting as it unfolds, folks.

Can it be that Halle Berry is just as bad at picking crappy men as the rest of you?

I came across the news that Halle Berry and her boyfriend/baby-daddy of 5yrs, are no longer an item. Rumor has it, homeboy got kinda tired of their age difference and found his eyes wandering elsewhere - she is 43 and he's 34yrs old. So now instinctively I'm thinking, "maybe a brotha like me still has a chance."

But then I got to thinking about all the guys that she has dated (or married) who eventually kicked her to the curb? So now I'm thinking, "Damn, lotta cats ran through that, son. Nah, you don't want that." Which is bullshit because the average fat bastard like me would welcome Halle Berry even if her vagina was dragging on the floor as we both walk hand in hand.

So what is it about Halle Berry and why she just can't seem to keep a man? I mean what is it that prevents the one woman brothas my age has epitomized for years as the ultimate standard of beauty? What, is she just that unlucky? Are all the men with whom she has had relationships, trifling? I mean no sister this fine can be that unlucky, right?

Yep, and no man can be that unmindful of the fact that this is "Halle Berry" he's kicking it with, and going to bed next to, right? I mean, sure there may be some level of intimidation considering the fact that she has been the source of masturbatory motivation for guys my age for about the last 20yrs, right? But c'mon, this is Halle-Fuckin-Berry, son! Sure there'll be sheisty thirsty-ass n*ggas who attempt to throw salt in your game, right? But hey, f*ck intimidation; hell, that's when you stick your chest out because you're the man.

So I took some time to think about this woman who even at 43yrs old, is finer than frog hair split four ways, And though I don't know her personally, it's almost like I wanna cry for Halle. It's like I hear her tearfully lement that "love shoulda brought your ass home," all over again like she did in the movie Boomerang. And speaking of which, I think that's part of her problem; the fact that she did the movie Boomerang.

Plain and simple, that woman has been cursed since that movie. I think after doing that role as "Angela", fellas just figured she was that dumb chick who was easy to get over on. But, I'm not entirely sure that's her fault. Actually, because of that movie, I'd say Robin Givens totally f*cked it up for her.  I mean, why settle for sweet innocent Halle when you could have Robin Givens and her crazy ass manipulative mother, right?

When Art Imitates Life: Sandra Bullock Adopts a Black Baby

I'm going to do something I almost never do on this blog, I'm going to preface this post by saying: The race of an adoptive parent has no impact on said adopted child... with the exception of Steve Martin in the movie The Jerk. Truthfully, adopting and successful child rearing has more to do with love, and very little to do with race, creed, color, or ethnic origin. Yep, it's hard to believe but it's true. I'm of the belief that transracial adoptions are not as complicated as we as a racially polarized society makes it out to be. But that said, let's not pretend that it's as easy as running out to the pet store and picking up a chihuahua.

OK, with that said....

What the f*ck is up with Sandra Bullock adopting a black baby?! I mean damn, I know the movie The Blindside did well and all, but did she really have to become the real life Ms. Save-A-Negro? What, the Academy Award wasn't enough? Nope, she couldn't stop there, she had to go for one of those elusive NAACP Image Awards to sit next to her Oscar on her mantle, didn't she.

Lemme guess, they'll be casting her as Harriet Tubman next, right?

SIDENOTE: Did they really have to put the X-Clan African beads on the kid in the pic above?

Oh, and also filed for divorce from her cheating ass husband Jesse James? And we hear this shit all in one day? Just great, when your husband cheats on you, do the natural thing, adopt a baby or get pregnant. Yep, just like that she's managed to become that no-man-having single successful black woman that everybody is chattering about. Uuh-huh, and you black women complain about how hard it is being a single parent? Well, none of that fazes Ms. Bullock, by God. Just like Black women, "she don't need a man telling her what to do."

Now of course, her being white makes it hard for anyone to portray her as the jilted angry black woman in the media. Sorry black women, it sucks, but that's just the way it is; and, Bullock will forever be seen as a savior of the black male, unlike yourselves. Her adoption of three month old Louis Bardo Bullock, who is from New Orleans, may indeed come as a public relations blessing. You know, sorta the same way one lowly down-trodden Negro from Mississippi upped her stock in Hollywood? Yes, I can see the headlines now:

What Ciara's Video for "Ride" Really Needs...

Let me premise this by saying that I don't know about you, but I am tired of these kinds of videos. Only thing worse than this, as far as overtly and overly sexual innuendo and fuckery, was Kiely Williams' "Spectacular."

Before the Peanut Gallery sets up shop, let me say that physically she looks good (I prefer more muscle tone and more thickness...Ciara's arms scare me. I dig Beyonce...). The girl is a dancer, so I am sure it is easy for her to keep her physique that way. Her wig looks nice (didn't like the blond though) and her dancing is superb. She's a very good dancer.

I found the video tedious, cheesy, cliche and tired in its lack of visual. Someone basically picked the same soundstage for the "Like a Boy" video, but instead of giving us something to marvel at, they took the easy route and literally made the video soft porn. Don't even let me get into the mechanical bull(shit).

It is clear that Ciara is fighting for her life by putting this out. Rihanna, Beyonce and even Keri Hilson all seemed to pass her by while she took detour away from the "hood". What's sad is this is her getting back to her roots, and it implies that her "hood" roots are oversexed and wanton. But folk wanna get mad at Miss Badu. I can explain nudity to my kids. I can't with soft porn. So here's what Ciara's video needed in MY mind, to make it 100% thorough (and to keep it real):

1) Dicks: Yes, I mean a penis or two. In between shots of her on the bull, I would've liked to see an erect penis, maybe a cumshot? I mean, it would've tied this bullshit in well. Isn't that the purpose, Ciara?

2) What what in the butt: What's a good porn without a little butt action, right? Maybe Luda coulda jumped in?

3) Baby oil: Now, all the videos I see with black chicks have included some rubbing of baby oil on the buttocks while the camera man zooms in on the massaging of Johnson's & Johnson's staple oil. Don't act like you don't know...

4) Crazy talk: While everyone's getting it in, I would've liked to have heard some crazy introduction like, "Hi, my name is Ciara. I'm new to this..." (insert fake giggle here). Maybe some crazy, smarmy guys asking moronic and perverse questions like, "Hey baby, when you gonna show us that booty?"

5) Keep it 100, girl. The mechanical bull is SO 1980s. For real. If you go to any pr0n site, you will find machines to help you titillate the male audience (or the lesbians) but they ain't bulls... *wink* *wink*

Now, THAT would've been Ciara keeping it real, because this video is real bullshit.

I would love to hear your thoughts folks. And PLEASE think before using the word or even alluding the word "hater."
