11,12,13: Fast Ass Little Girls

I am 11 years old and my Dad just got me exactly what I asked for as my birthday gift. I carry my Mongoose dirt bike through our railroad apartment, past my sleeping mother, down creaky stairs and out of the heavy self slamming front door that leads to Monticello Ave. The evening air feels wonderful against my skin as I ride up and down the surrounding blocks for no other reason than sheer boredom. I suffer from insomnia but back then I just called it boredom.

Some nights I have a riding buddy. He is some neighborhood boy who sometimes rides along side of me when he sees me out with my dirt bike late at night. We don’t speak, rather he chases me through the streets as I speed forward, bunny hop and make sharp turns up and down the grid blocks of Jersey City. I don’t know his name but I see him often enough to know he had seen me in my private school uniform which should give away the fact that I am in grammar school. He asks me to come outside without my bike. Sneaking out of the house is even less complicated without my bike and so I did, and after several conversations on the corner of Reed Street I don’t hesitate to walk a few blocks away from home at his urging. One day he tells me he has a surprise for me. My curiosity gets the best of me and I follow him. He had given me a skate key a few nights before though I didn’t know how to skate. He promised me that he would take me skating and teach me one day.

I follow him through the side streets to an abandoned school that I had attended for kindergarten, maybe the familiarity of the building was one reason I let him coax me into following him up to the auditorium. It didn’t seem dangerous or wrong to be going into the building since abandoned buildings are just as common in Jersey City as buildings are that aren’t abandoned. People live and hang out in both according to my limited life understanding.

Shaniya Davis: Child Prostitution, Sex Trafficking & Necessary Evil

I don't like to get into discussions about "good" vs. "evil" from a religious or biblical standpoint. But who are we bullshittin'? Neither one would exist without the other; yes, there is necessary good, and then there is necessary evil as Eddie Murphy pointed out as he played the crazy looking preacher in the movie Vampire in Brooklyn. The death of 5yr old Shaniya Davis is one of those necessary evil cases - necessary to shine some light on a taboo that we often overlook: Child Prostitution, and sex trafficking of minors.

Now mind you, I'm not suggesting that the way she died was necessary in the sense that her life had no worth. Hopefully I'm not obfuscating my position. I am saying that this situation, though horrifically blood-curdling and shocking, should draw attention to a larger societal problem. Of course when you heard about a 5yr old being traded for sex by a mother it was shocking, but yet we act as if this never happens in America or across the globe. The sad truth about it, is that it happens - it's not right, but it happens a lot more than we even imagine. And to be honest with you, it shouldn't really be a surprise!

Hell, many of us sat glued to the television every week as America's most feared white man, Chris Hanson, lured would be child molesters off the internet and into our homes exposing their vile and iniquitous intentions. That said, is there any surprise that there is indeed a market for sex with minors? According to the United States Department of Justice: there are an estimated 293,000 American youth who are currently at risk of becoming victims of commercial sexual exploitation. Yes, and many of these kids are not your typical runaways out in the streets, and are in fact just like Shaniya as far as closeness in age.

At the end of the day, while we're all looking at the mother of this child rightfully with disgust as we are. It's important to remember, that there are some sick individuals out there who would willingly pay money to fulfill their carnal pleasures by exploiting children. Also, we must never forget that the disease that is drug addiction, is responsible for some of the outrageous things that people do. Yes, Shaniya's mother was just as sick psychologically in accommodating the wishes of another nebulous individual.

She had sex with the social worker to make sure Child Protective Services would let her keep her kids

OK listen folks - ladies especially - we got some shit to talk about (hat-tip to African American Political Pundit for this one). Yeah I know y'all stuck on that "Real Housewives of Atlanta" bullshit drama (yeah, I got something for their ass coming soon), but it's time to talk about some real stuff for a change. Recently I read a post at a blog on my very first visit that moved me. The blog is Just Jo Nubian, and the post is titled Brothers Remove Your Masks. I've shined some spotlight on this post because it deals with the subject of mental health in the Black community. Now the post speaks specifically about Black men. But since we're all unified (minus the "I hate Black men so I bash them every chance I can get" bitches), I think it's important to understand, that a substantial amount of behavioral "problems" within our collective, is a direct result of what I term: brain damage.

You know, sorta like the lady crying in the picture above? Her name is Theola Nealy, and she lives in Milwaukee, Wisconsin; and no, she's not crying because she misses the sitcom "Laverne & Shirley". You see, she was under investigation by social services for alleged child neglect; she had two kids at the time. Of course, a state employed social worker was assigned to her case (thank the lord that there is still money in state gov't to pay hard working social workers) with the interest of her children in mind. Don't you love the idea that there's a system in place which protects children by any means necessary? You know, especially how they did in this woman's case?

A social worker who was supposed to be helping a Milwaukee woman got her pregnant instead, the woman said. Now, she's fighting to get her daughter back. The baby's father was assigned to investigate a child neglect complaint about the woman's other children.

The agency said the social worker broke rules by having sex with a client and but then placed the child with him after they removed the baby from her mother's home.

"I missed her birthday. He had her," Theola Nealy said. Nealy's daughter, Melina, turned 1 year old in the custody of her former child welfare worker, who is also the baby's father. "He started coming over, and it evolved into sex, and I told him I did not want to have sex," Nealy said.

Nealy said she had sex with the social worker to make sure Child Protective Services would let her keep her kids. She said when she became pregnant, he told her to have an abortion. After she refused, Protective Services soon removed her kids from her home. [click here to read more and watch the video on this story]
Well isn't that just wonderful? I've heard that the post man always rings twice, but not the social worker? Sure I know to many of you reading, this woman is probably just another "Welfare Queen" sitting on her ass making babies and getting fat. But would we be hard pressed to consider her mental state? I don't know if it's done or not, but don't you think a mental evaluation should be considered for parents investigated for child neglect? Of course I'm assuming that it's never done. But in the interest of children, shouldn't it be? Especially when we're trying to break cycles of learned behavior?

So now she doesn't have any of her kids - including the baby who was taken away and given to "Mister Horny Predator Social Worker Guy" who is taking her to court to obtain full custody of the child. Now ain't that a slap in the face? I guess he really cares about kids now, considering he has lost his job as a result of his actions. Some people are of the opinion that a crime was committed. But I'm not sure if betrayal of trust is actually a crime these days in this country. Sure he compromised his integrity, and that of the state; and yes, he may have taken advantage of a poor Black woman. But in this country were there's a high price to pay for being poor, this is to be expected. But it's my belief that this gentleman should never be allowed to work for any governmental agency in life ever again. I'd sure love to hear your thoughts on that. Or whether his actions were criminal and deserves jail time as Theola Nealy believes.

The real tragedy here, is that she is now separated from her children. Who knows if she'll be able to get them back. What's sad is that in her mind she did what she had to do for her kids. It may not have been the best decision in the world sleeping with her case worker. But hey, when it comes to your kids, most parents will do what they have to do. To me, the real f*cked up person in the head, is in fact the social worker. But I get the feeling that as always, it's the victim who will bear the brunt of the responsibility, and scrutiny. Hopefully her children doesn't wind up in the care of the system through Foster Care. If they do, speaking of mental health issues, hopefully this doesn't happen to them:

SPERM DONORS, SPERM BANKS & CHILD SUPPORT

Out of Money

After my parents divorced way back in 19..whenever, my dad never paid child support. My mom never took him to court, nor did she ever push the issue. A part of me was pissed for a long time that she didn't because I felt like we went without when it didn't have to be that way. I believe my mother's pride was behind her not asking for anything from him. Without going into details, I'm sure you can get the picture. She put up with Lotta bullshit, he had different women, they got divorced. Now, my mom did struggle to hold it together, and it was only as an adult looking back that I'm able to see that. I used to think that she was selfish for not taking him to court for anything; I felt like she was only thinking about herself instead of my brothers and I. But you know what? We all turned out pretty good. I believe just by her doing that, it taught us the lesson of not relying on anybody for anything. My dad rarely volunteered to assist financially if he ever did at all. That also pissed me off for a long time through my teen years. I felt like he was a selfish muthafucka who really didn't care. I carried this image of him in my head for years. It wasn't until recently that I actually got over it.

Now that scenario I explained comes from me, the kid of two divorced parents. But the shit is a little bit different from the norm. I say that because 70% of childern are born out of wedlock. And often, the custodial parent is the female. I'm all about a man being a man and taking care of his kids. And when I say that, I'm not just speaking just from a financial stanpoint. I believe that being a father requires alot more than just signing a check. However, I have a problem with the court saying, "hey dude, if you don't pay your child support we'll throw your ass in jail!" Ultimately I don't think that the court cares about my kid at all. Truthfully, I think them enforcing child support orders are their way of protecting themselves or getting some payback (if you will) for the kids that benefit from the welfare system. Its as though its their own insurance policy. I mean when you break it down, who benefits? The system does! Not the mother, not the kids! But the system does. They do because it means that if all men paid their child support, their would be no need for welfare. When a man gets thrown in jail for non payment, who benefits? Damn sure aint the mother, damn sure aint the kid! So who benefits? The system does! The state (who issues welfare) gets paid per locked up muthafucka! So you see, that's why its a win win situation for them, and definitely not for the parties involved, be it the mother, father or kid(s).

And lets be honest, the majority of the people who go to jail for child support are poor. When I say poor I'm also referring to being poorly educated. With 70% of kids being born out of wedlock I'm pretty sure that the majority of those parents are not educated past high school. So its as though poor people are punished for having kids. Yeah poor people are not supposed to have kids because it just leads to more poor people in this country. That's how I see it and I think its bullshit. But what can we do, huh? Maybe if men had verbal disclaimers this wouldn't be a problem. I mean if more men said, "hey listen umm, I know we about to fuck and all but I want you to know that if you get pregnant I'm not gonna take care of the kid...I got more bitches to holla at." Upon hearing this hopefully the woman wouldn't have sex with the guy. And as a result, there wouldn't be unwanted pregancies, kids given up for adoption, abortions, women being mad at the father of their kid(s), women thinking that niggas aint shit and men going to jail because they failed the population control test!

I get disgusted when I hear women refer to the father of their kids as "sperm donors". I've even heard a few women refer to them this way in the company of their kids. The women who say that need to think before saying those words, because it sure says alot about her character more so than the man she CHOSE to have sex with. If he's a sperm donor, doesn't that make you a sprem bank? How about explaining to your kid that daddy's not around because mommy was a sperm bank. When I hear a woman say that its as though she's saying, "boy was I an idiot!" I think child support should be for couples who dissolve their marriages rather than unwed individuals.

What do you think ?

HAVE YOU SEEN MY DADDY?

Ok, so much has been said about black men abandoning their kids. Yes, 70% of black kids grow up in homes without a father present. This would mean that 30% of kids grow up in homes with a father present. However, recent studies have shown that black men, present at home or not, are more caring, and spend time with their kids than any other ethnicity. Unfortunately, this never gets reported in the media. Some fathers do spend time with their kids.

Check this out...

MEMPHIS, TN -- A man is behind bars after leaving his
3-year-old son behind after crashing his car and then fleeing on foot.

Forty-six-year-old David Coopwood was charged with driving
under the influence and child endangerment after a minor traffic accident Sunday
night.

A police affidavit said Coopwood tried to run from the scene
but was chased down and held for authorities by two witnesses to the accident.

Coopwood is accused of leaving his son, who was not properly
restrained, sitting on the front seat of his car.

Witnesses say they boy suffered minor injuries when the car's
air bag deployed.

The boy's mother came and picked him up from the accident
scene according to police.

Coopwood later blew a .323 on a breathalyzer test.

He was charged with DUI, public intoxication, and violating
child restraint laws.

Ok, so this guy was drunk, and yes he abandoned his kid after wrecking the car. But hey, at least he was there with his kid, right? According to statistics, 70% of black kids wish they were as fortunate as his 3yr old kid. I dunno, maybe the dude ran because he didn't have insurance? Maybe he shoulda got GEICO with ya money?

Damn I love Memphis!
