Eddie Long Accepts a Stack of Money From Woman During Sermon (Like A Pimp!!)

Recession? What recession? This nigga has to cut a check for $15 million to cover that whole feeling on your booty thing with those cats from his church. And look at how the faithful women of the Lord and his church are dropping stacks on this fool. What, did the sister put a down payment on her or her son's booty gettin' felt up? Shit, is this how they get down in the house that God Eddie Long built? You can't convince me otherwise, but this nigga's a pimp.

Pray On It: The Lord Giveth and the Lord Taketh Away

by Tracy Renee Jones

I’m currently going through a family crisis. It’s no more or less complicated than other barriers I’ve had to face as a single mother living in America. I don’t often talk about my problems with people I know. To me there is nothing more frustrating than when I divulge/explain/confide in another person in (the slight) hope that they may be able to offer me a solution or at the very least some insight.

“Well, you should pray on that and God will delivery you from whatever is bothering you”

“Have you prayed to God for a solution?”

“Give it over to the Lord”

“I’m gonna pray for you”

Why are the people of the US so dam religious?

According to social scientist and Journal of Religion and Society the reason is mainly due to the existence of higher levels of stress faced by US citizens. The stress levels suffered by residents of the U.S. is much greater than stress felt by European citizens who live under a social welfare system that alleviates many of the same factors.

“Scientist also found that countries that had higher infant mortality, homicide rates and levels of corruption, had lower life expectancy, had more AIDS and more abortion all tended to have a population that turned to prayer more often. The other interesting finding is that all these factors also went hand in hand with higher income inequality. In other words, income inequality acts like a kind of barometer of societal health.”

Black Folk & Ligion'

by Eco.Soul.Intellectual

The other night as I was chopping it up with a friend about life, we began recounting church scandals in her area of Philly. We got on black folk, ligion' and our propensity to worship our "leaders" and "prophets" who are mostly self-appointed.

This "waiting on Jesus, Allah, Buddah and Rastafari" and as Peter Tosh puts it "Pie in the Sky" shit has got to stop. She said something potent when she said, "We are worshipping the man and forgetting to worship God."

With that said, I love this vlog by comedienne Cadillac Kim. Check it out.

Bishop Eddie Long: The 800 Pound Dick in the Black Church

by Eco.Soul.Intellectual

Finally, the unchecked, cultish, pimp-like dominion that pastors have had on black churches since MLK was known for plugging a deaconess-a-day is finally being exposed.

It has been the big black open secret that overshadows pulpits since abolition. It is the horrible truth. Nobody dares talk about it. Er'bdy turns a blinds eye to it.

And at this point, no holy oil, scripture verses or a slick $7,000 tailored suit can hide a known fact that has been an ugly thread in the history of black churches for a minute. And in my opinion, a huge contributor the diminishing of black church's political power politically, economic communalism and spiritual leadership.

It seems these days that the last incentive for a crook to go legit is to open up a damn church. Sheeit, pimps gotta eat too. That whole profit

Oh, and that goes for black mosques---the Nation of Islam and Orthodox mosques that toss sisters up like shot glassed; And I will not leave out Hebrew Israelites who "discipline" women by putting them in homes with other women who have violated policy; the Nuwabian nation with Malachi York who was known to sleep with a man's bride the night before the wedding; Or the Santeros, and Orisha community in which the priests run through the women like loose bowels.

Let's put it all on the table tonight! Sexual exploitation and black religion goes hand in hand. But let's get back to Christian churches since they hold the bulk of black folk in the States, shall we?

Christians protest the Hate Crimes Bill, and some of them are Black?!!

I am not a religious or spiritual person. I figure as I get older, as do every damn body, then maybe I too shall seek counsel with a higher power. The one thing that scares me about me eventually doing it, is becoming as ignorant and foolishly bigoted as some of the religious fundamentalists currently alive. I mentioned before about "certain religious folk" not taking a liking to the recently passed Hate Crimes Bill.

Well, these "children of God" held a protest a few days ago to air out their disgust. The recent legislation has already been signed into law by president Barack Obama, but yet they feel the need to protest instead of abiding by the laws of the land as the bible says. As usual, among the protesters, there were a few mis-guided Negroes in the mix, who foolishly made compromise on the prosecution of people who commit hate crimes on minorities and other people of color because of the color of their skin.

Check it out:

I'm sorry, but the idea that this legislation is designed to infringe on the First Amendment protection that is free speech, is very disingenious. It has nothing to do with throwing anyone in jail for voicing their opinion(s) about homosexuality. But hey, don't tell that to these crazy burning bush believers. According to them the gov't just created a law that infringes on what they say in the pulpit. Yeah, like now there's gonna be a cop at every church making sure one of them says the wrong thing about homosexuality.

And as for the silly Negroes protesting with them? I guess the fact that then president Bill Clinton signed legislation known as the Church Arson Prevention Act in 1996, to aid in the prosecution of racist assholes who have a fetish for burning down Black churches must be a bad thing as well. Yeah, I suppose it too infringes on the freedom to be a bigoted assclown and act on it as well. Not only that, that bill helped Black churches in accessing loans from financial institutions in the wake of such a hateful act. Uh-huh, how come these Negro preachers we not protesting that bill being signed into law back then? I guess the KKK firebombing a Black church is an act of love and not hate; oh how times and Black people have changed.

Silly Negroes...

Preaching to the choir

I listened to Barack Obama's speech at the NAACP, and I'll be honest, it wasn't one of those come to Jesus moments for me. Unlike the people in attendance the Holy Ghost didn't run through me, nor did I start speaking in tongues. I suppose it's due in part to the fact that I felt like he broke no new ground with his speech; seriously, how many times have we heard the whole dreaded "PR" words - personal responsibility - dished out at us. Of course this "self-accountability" theme or line he delivered is being played out by the media for obvious reasons. Yeah, I know it's the NAACP so it's probably to be expected, but tell me something I don't know. I mean, tell me about how the green jobs are going to create employment in the Black community. Tell me about how those "shovel ready" projects are coming along and it's impact on the crisis of minority unemployment. Tell me if us minorities will ever have to worry about predatory lending ever again.

I don't know, but is it too audacious to think that a person like myself filled with hope and longing for change to ask this of our president? Can we hear some talk about how implemented policy will directly, and specifically impact the Black community? How much longer will we as Black people be the choir that is lectured? When will we be just members of the church who tithe every week and question the progress on the building fund? Look, personal responsibility, and the importance of education is one thing - an important thing. However, haven't we stressed these ideals a time or two? The thing that bothers me, is that if this were George W. Bush giving the very same speech - obviously with less eloquence and passion - a part of me thinks that us Black folks would be offended. Yes, we would and I dare you to tell me I'm wrong; I'll let you marinate on that as I move on.

Speaking of hope, change and social justice:

A good friend of mine, Tracie Powell, who is a weekly contributor to CQpolitics wrote a piece recently that I found interesting and thought provoking. Her piece centers around president of the Los Angeles chapter of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference, Rev. Eric P. Lee. He has come under fire for expressing an opposing view which supports the LGBT movement and their fight for equality and marriage. As a result of his stance or support the organization wants him fired. Her piece is titled: Gay Marriage: What Would King Do?, and after reading it one can only wonder - as I did - what, how or where would Martin Luther King Jr. stand on this issue today were he alive. I'd really like you to take the time to click the aforementioned link to her post and give it a read.

It is my hope that you would be brave enough to leave your honest opinion on her post as you would here. Personally I would hope that if Martin Luther King Jr. were alive today, he would lend his support to the LGBT movement. After all, he he did champion for equality economically and socially, did he not? However, even in knowing that as well all do. A part of me wants to think that he too would have back pedaled and become hypocritical and lend no support to this cause. Him being a Black preacher, I think he would have folded under the pressure of the Black church, and organizations like the SCLC, and I think that would have been tragic. Tragic because for most of us, it's probably hard to see Martin Luther King Jr. as a hypocrite. Even more tragic, is that there are some of us who believe that organizations like the SCLC and the NAACP are no longer relevant. Well, if they aren't where would Barack Obama go to preach to the choir?

QUESTION(S):

What did you think of Barack Obama's speech in front of the NAACP gathering?

Do you think Martin Luther King Jr. would be supportive of the LGBT w/ gay marriage?

Do you think as an organization, that the NAACP or the SCLC are still relevent today?

Black Folks, Black Church, Homophobes! Gather Around; Let's Talk!!

Earlier this week on the very same day Judge Sonia Sotomayor was announced as Supreme Court justice nominee, the state of California voted and decided to uphold last falls proposition 8 decision as voted by the public. Ironically, here in Memphis on the very same day, Black preachers who almost always vote Democratic, along with a very Conservative White County Commissioner held a rally in protest at City Hall.

They were protesting a city ordinance which would create anti-discrimination protection to the LBGT community in the area of employment here in Shelby county Tennessee. If you remember, the prop 8 vote it was said to be largely determined by the Black vote. This is something conservatives pushed, and to me it still sounds like bullshit. Actually it is convenient to have Black people as the scapegoat as always. However, when I see Black preachers in my city in solidarity with republicans on the issue of anti-discrimination laws for the LGBT community I have to wonder.

What’s with the Black preachers and homosexuality?

A few weeks ago in Washington D.C. the city voted unanimously to recognize same sex marriages that have been performed in the states in the union where these civil unions are legal and recognized. The lone dissenter in a 12-1 vote on this was former D.C. Mayor, Marion Barry. He said that he felt a lot of pressure from the preachers in the city and as a result he cast his vote opposing it. Obviously he wasn’t lying because there was an angry mob of preachers at City Hall after the votes were cast. I guess when you get caught on tape smoking crack you gotta do what you gotta do to stay on God's good side. So what does D.C. and Memphis have in common? Well, both cities are majority African American. Yes, this would lead anyone to conclude that Black people may have a problem with homosexuality.

So again I ask: what’s with the Black preachers, the Black community and homosexuality?

I would really like to hear your honest opinions and answers to these questions in your commentary. Me personally, I don’t understand it. Well, actually I do, but me being me, I don’t get the hypocrisy of it all. I mean let’s be real Black community: just like everybody has a crackhead in their family, or a cousin “Junebug”, everybody has a gay cousin. Uh huh, yeah, and don’t be looking at me all crazy; yeah I see that side-eye you’re giving me. Uh huh, tell the damn truth! Everybody had that one effeminate cousin who liked to play with dolls, play hopscotch, and do that Double-Dutch jump rope thing instead of “traditional” sports. So why act like this is something new? What, it’s cool to be “girly” as a kid just as long as you don’t grow up and still “choose” to be? Wait hold up, I’m not sure if that’s even right because recently those “girly” boys have been bullied to the point where they commit suicide.

[Insert Blank Stare]

Now I know that not all Black people go to church. Yup and there’s no way that the Black church is that powerful so as to create this “taboo” associated with homosexuality. Can somebody tell me where this is all coming from? However, I don’t know what’s up with these Black preachers. I mean, is there some “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” policy in the church when it comes to homosexuality? For real though! How are they gonna come out slamming same sex marriage, anti-discrimination laws and shit, when the dude who is the choir director is gay? Aww c’mon people, don’t act like I’m making this shit up! You’ve been to church, and you’ve seen it. You’re not gonna tell me that the gay choir director thing is just an act this dude pulls only on a Sunday.

Nope I’m not buying it, and I’m not gonna believe that Black preachers accept homosexuality only if you have musical talent. If I remember correctly, wasn’t it the church that was instrumental in the fight for equality such as voting rights and stuff like that? That said, what is wrong with fighting for the equal rights of another minority group of people in this country? Ok yeah, so you may say that their fight is nothing compared to being sprayed with water hoses, or getting a chunk of your ass bitten off by racist German Shepherds. Yes I get that. However, didn’t Martin Luther King Jr say an injustice anywhere should be recognized and met with positive action?

I could be wrong; he may not have said that. My bad; Martin Luther King Jr. only spoke up for Black people and nobody else. Oh well, thank God that he did, because if he didn’t have the courage to speak up for Black people only, as he did, it may still be illegal for Barack Obama’s parents to be married. Or, the new Federal Hate Crime Bill would not have provisions to help protect the LGBT community from the bigots in this country.

Imagine that…

ADDENDUM:I say these preachers have the right to protest. But until churches start paying taxes, they need to shut the fuck up! I mean really?!! What ever happened to the separation of Church & State? What ever happened to the true prophetic leaders who were about the advancement of equality for all men per the constitution? It's a damn shame that people do not know the history of marriage, but yet say it's something handed down as a "gift" from God. In the end, I think it's foolish to hide behind the Bible -- a book that was commisioned to be published by King James, he who himself was a known homosexual. Look it up if you don't believe me.

Easter, Family Portraits & Cowboy Pimps

This is the day that the Lord has made, let us rejoice and go hunt for colored eggs! Yup, it’s definitely Easter folks. Oh, in case you didn't know, or are probably Muslim, into Scientology, or a republican...Easter is a Christian 'holiday' that celebrates the day that Jesus rose from the grave.

After which, he bought a new suit and decided to play with rabbits, and hide colorful eggs before going up to heaven. Since Jesus is the focus of Christianity, people all over the world continue the practice. Well, I dunno about around the world, however, I do know about some of the people I saw in the mall yesterday. Hell, I even saw a woman who I knew she had to be a stripper on her way to work being that she was barely clothed running around buying a dress for Easter Sunday. I guess it just goes to show that we’re in a recession when strippers get saved.

I saw so many people shopping and buying "dress clothes", I started to question if Barack Obama sent them extra tax refunds, or a damn stimulus check. Maybe it’s because I now live in the bible belt. Yeah, maybe that’s what it is. I swear, I've never seen so many people lose their minds as I've seen this weekend outside of Christmas shopping. All over the place there were people buying church clothes. It made me wonder if these people were true Christians or the fake Christians who only show up for communion once a year. Hell I even saw a whole family decked out in their Sunday’s best lined up waiting to take pictures at Sears. I couldn’t help it, but I thought to myself, “I know these people ARE NOT gonna wear the same thing tomorrow at church, and I hope not”

We even went out to dinner and there were a lot of people in their church clothes lined up waiting to eat. I thought it was odd since this was Saturday night and not Easter Sunday. But my wife informed me that they were probably some Seventh Day Adventist members. It’s a damn shame that Christians can’t even agree on when the Sabbath should be observed. Oh well, there are many contradictions in Christianity, so no biggie.

My wife's grand-parents, and her father are in town from Detroit, for the weekend, and It’s been cool so far. Just seeing her grand-parents enjoying life together at an old age is a beautiful thing. I could only hope to live as long in love and in the company of the most beautiful woman in the world in my life. Yesterday, with them being here, we decided to go get some portraits done at Sears. It was then that I saw the madness as it relates to Easter shopping and such. But like I said before, maybe its because I live in the bible belt that I'm privileged to see such behavior.

There was one family ahead of us waiting at Sears to get pics that cracked me up. They had to be at least 15-20 deep. Oh and yes they were Black. The funny thing about seeing them was seeing the grand-parents; who oddly enough, seemed to be the only actual adults in the group. They were dressed to kill....literally! You know how old dudes have this saying to describe how “fly” they looked dressed up, called being “casket sharp”? Well, the way they were dressed, you would have died from the uncontrollable laughter.

The old dude wore a gold suit; something sorta like a pimp would wear. I like seeing old dudes dressed sharp in suits, but this guy?? He looked tacky as hell! He looked like a pimp reject, which is worse than an assistant pimp. I promise you, dude looked like Snoop Dogg's uncle Junebug. What was worse and took the cake, was that he also wore a cowboy hat. I swear, I'm not making this up. Dude was like a hybrid Negro. He was part pimp, part cowboy, and his suit looked like a cheap shower curtain from the Dollar Store. I’m sorry, but the cowboy pimp thing was a big mistake.

His wife wore all pink and didn't look too bad in my opinion, but my wife thought she was a hot mess; I guess being a guy I tend to be harder on the fellas. The rest of the family (mostly kids) were kinda fucked up looking the way they were dressed as well. But when your grandfather is a cowboy-pimp you can pretty much look however you please. I mean, grandma, and grandpa were dressed to the hilt, but the rest of them looked like they were straight off the playground sporting garanimals from the 80’s. For the purpose of this blog I wanted to take pics of them with my camera phone, but I didn't wanna look like a Japanese tourist in Hollywood. Besides, that dude would have probably called his cowboy-pimp buddies to put a hit out on me once word got back that he was featured on the internet.

Getting family pics is a pretty cool thing. Most families, even as screwed up as they are, just coming together and taking pictures is a good thing. It’s the one moment in time that captures togetherness despite any dysfunction. The family that was ahead of us did play and act the part of dysfunction even in waiting for their pictures to be taken. But I'm sure that with the click and flash of the camera that love was there. That’s why I like looking at family photos. When I see them, I see the love, and really that’s what it’s all about. Maybe if more families got together and took pictures, we'd have more families staying together, or at least pretending to like one another?

I dunno, but that’s what I think. Hell, even Jesus took a family picture eating dinner with his homies before he got gaffled by the Feds. And I'm sure though he predicted his demise, dudes probably thought he had too much to drink, and was talking out of the side of his neck. Which is kinda messed up because I know after he was killed, those same dudes probably wished they had wallet sized pictures of themselves all together. After all, you never know when it could be the last time that you're all together.
