Michelle Obama Invites "Gangster Rapper" To The White House, & Guess Who's Mad

"Now Black music is Black music, and it's allgood, I wasn't salty she was with the boys in the hood." -- Common; "I Used To Love H.E.R."

Oh Lordy or Lordy, look what Michelle Obama dun did now up the the white people's White House. She dun seriously up and dun it inviting one a dem dar Chicago gansta' rappers she used to live next to to the White House. Word has it that she's having a poetry reading session on Wednesday, but I ain't buying it.

It's bad enuff that them Obama Kenyans dun defiled the sanctity of the one true symbol of whiteness and err'thing right with Amuur'cuh by even living there. And now, they finna have this Negro and his posse bussin' spades, making it rain on hoes, and whatever else them there drug dealing Negroes do.

Of course them dar white folks over at The Daily Caller is madder den a mugg over tghis and had something to say about it. And lemme tell you, at last count, there was 274 comments mostly in disgust after the following post. Let's just say, judging from the comments, Flava Flav better tear up his invitation:
First Lady Michelle Obama has scheduled a poetry evening for Wednesday, and she’s invited several poets, including a successful Chicago poet and rapper, Lonnie Rashid Lynn, Jr., AKA “Common.” However, Lynn is quite controversial, in part because his poetry includes threats to shoot police and at least one passage calling for the “burn[ing]” of then-President George W. Bush.

Back in 2003, First Lady Laura Bush held a poetry evening, and she invited several poets to reprise the work of Emily Dickinson, Langston Hughes and Walt Whitman. Although none of those poets had urged violence against a president, Bush canceled the event after left-of-center poets protested and threatened to disrupt the event. (read more)
Oh well, lemme g'head and enjoy Common while I can; at least the pre-gangsta rapper Common; you know, back when he was less gangsta?
Sarah Palin jumped on the bandwagon, tweeting the Daily Caller story with a comment “Oh, lovely White House” — the virtual equivalent of rolling her eyes.

Pajamas Media, another conservative site, says Common supports Mumia Abu Jamal, convicted in the 1981 killing of a Philadelphia police officer, and was a member, along with the Obamas, of Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago, where Rev. Jeremiah Wright served as pastor. The rapper defended Wright during the 2008 campaign as Obama distanced himself from the controversial minister. The video below shows Wright in the background as Common performs.

A Fox News site called the multiple Grammy-winner a “vile rapper.” Common, who has also acted in several films, including "American Gangster" and "Terminator Salvation," also performed at a 2009 inaugural ball. (source)
Yeah, ain't no tellin' how much more gangsta' he's gonna get once he leaves the White House as he becomes more untouchable and public enemy number one, while Obama's still in office (watch this). Yep, big shouts out to the city of Chicago and all my peoples who live there; been a minute, but we'll kick it soon.

No deportation for the "illegal alien" mother of Maryland second-grader - Conservatives are considering moving to Canada or Arizona

Somewhere along the line in my blogging about the need for comprehensive immigration reform. I forgot to mention the fact that there are 5.5 million American-born children of undocumented immigrants living in the country.

Yes, according to the Pew Research Center: 73% of the children of undocumented immigrants are born in the United States. I was reminded of this a few days ago after I witnessed the exchange with a Maryland second-grader and the First Lady Michelle Obama a few days ago:

Did Barack cheat on Michelle?

A big Hat-tip to my blog superhero The field Negro for this one, folks!

OK, so I know already how some of you are gonna react to this story. Especially the female Obama supporters who frequently read my blog. You know, the typical "he can do no wrong," because "he's able to walk on water," crowd? Well yeah, I could just imagine the responses to this post from them especially when you consider the source of this information:
Reports out of Washington, DC:  PRESIDENT OBAMA in a shocking cheating scandal after being caught in a Washington, DC Hotel with a former campaign aide.

A confidential investigation has learned that Obama first became close to gorgeous 35 year-old VERA BAKER in 2004 when she worked tirelessly to get him elected to the US Senate, raising millions in campaign contributions.

While Baker has insisted in the past that "nothing happened" between them, reports reveal that top anti-Obama operatives are offering more than $1 million to witnesses to reveal what they know about the alleged hush-hush affair.

Among those being offered money is a limo driver who says in 2004 that he took Vera to a secret hotel rendezvous in where Obama was staying.

An ENQUIRER reporter has confirmed the limo driver's account of the secret 2004 rendezvous. (source)
OK, so I see you giving me the side-eye on this one; and yes, I understand, this came out of the National Enquirer. Of course this publication is not known as a credible news source with esteemed journalistic qualities. That is, outside of the occasional UFO and Loch Ness Monster sightings, of course. But we gotta remember, that this is the same rag that broke the John Edwards sex scandal about a year ago.

Now I'm not saying that the above story is true. But if it were, my concern would be mainly focused on the reactions of the 96% of black people who voted for him. The Obama family has come to represent everything that is right about the black family, and black love. We have endeared ourselves to the image of the Obama family, and understandably so. However, even so, we unwittingly cast a certain level of omnipotence, and infallibility upon them. And in doing so, it's easy for us to dismiss anything negative about them as pure racist propaganda.

But what if it is was true? How differently would you look at Barack Obama? Would he be able to retain the same level of respect as Bill Clinton was able to after his Monica Lewinski affair? We know how his opponents on the right-side of the ailse would react. But how would we as his supporters react to this? Would we as supporters, who are quick to condemn republicans and their hypocrisy when it comes to moral issues hold him to a lesser standard of expectations? As Obama supporters, do we in turn become the the very hypocrites we despise and are so quick to condemn?

What do you think?

Black Women Are Not Supposed To Be Affectionate

When the pendulum swings one way, the laws of physics says that it will always equally swing in an opposite direction. Unfortunately, this week, this was not true for Michelle Obama. I’m sure this phenomenon of life and science has been seen the world over this week as it always has. However, for the First Lady of The United States of America, even the media science is bigoted.

Ok, so what you talking about RiPPa?

Well, first off, Michelle Obama touched the Queen of England, and the whole world is going to come to an end. I mean it has to be coming to an end the way the media covered this story of the faux pas of Mrs. Obama. I mean you’d swear that the sister felt up the Queen or something. Which might not be a bad idea because I doubt that old White woman is seeing any action at all over there, but I digress.

So like, what’s the big deal? Oh I forgot, the Queen of England doesn’t touch anybody. Matter of fact, I don’t even think she wipes her own ass! Wow, how’s that for a recession proof job. But yeah, the Queen touches no one which is good to know next time I take a trip across the pond.

Personally, in my infinite paranoia about racism and shit, I can’t help but to think that Michelle Obama’s color did play a hand in the negative backlash. I mean hell, everybody knows Black woman carry the cooties, right? Yeah, Michelle should have known better than to touch the Queen.

Gimme a damn break White media.

The funny thing about all of this is that the pendulum swung in a totally opposite direction one day later. Uh huh, but yet there was very little coverage of her positive message she sent to the students at the all girls school where she spoke. Nope, nothing was said much at all about her positive gesture giving hugs to all of those girls.

Check it out:

However, what did we learn? If you touch the Queen you get bad press, but when you give hugs to a group of now inspired girls, nobody cares. Well, that’s only true if you’re not a woman of color. I mean you just can’t go around being affectionate to old White ladies like that Michelle, damn.

Hell, Black women from America are not supposed to inspire anyone. They’re supposed to be angry, and filled with hate for their country with an occasional terrorist fist bump thrown in every now and then. Now that I think of it that was the problem. Michelle Obama should have given the Queen some “dap” as us folks of color call it. Yeah, giving her some “dap” would have been more true to form. Yup, all Black women are from the hood and work their way through college stripping, doing hair, and digging gold from Kanye West, and Michelle Obama is no exception.

She’s trash, remember?

Michelle Obama Is a Bitch & She Looks Like James Brown

Yeah I know, disturbing title right? Well, those are not my thoughts. Actually its a summation of how right wing writer Burt Prelutsky over at TOWNHALL.COM referenced her in his article Let Us Not Praise Famous Men - Or Women. Here's the excerpt of what he said that is pertinent to this discussion:

"Take Michelle Obama…please. Every time I turn around, there she is on a magazine cover. Now, normally, like the Mafia, I lay off the spouses, but inasmuch as this particular spouse attended the same racist church as her hubby for 20 years, I’ll make an exception in her case. After all, in spite of the fact that affirmative action got her an Ivy League degree and a $7,000-a-week salary and, moreover, has sent billions of dollars for no particularly good reason to Africa, she insists this is a mean country. The burning question in my circle is: if the First Family gets a female dog, will she be the First Bitch or will she have to settle for second place?" - Burt Prelutsky

Now you guys know how edgy I can be, and by now you know I have a sense of humor. You know this, right? Yes, I love a good laugh and I painstakingly do my best to always provide you folks with a good laugh every now and then. Well, to me, this shit above isn't funny, and neither is this next jab taken by the same writer in the same article:

"Naturally, the left-wing media is now trying to convince us that this James Brown-look-alike has all the allure, glamour and fashion sense of Jackie Kennedy." - Burt Prelutsky

Now, if this was just some yahoo talking out the side of his ass, I wouldn't even care. But the fact that these words were written on a website that is owned by a Christian Radio Network which leans heavily to the right with their politics is cause for concern. I mean, when did Christians become racist? What ever happened to "Jesus loves the little children, all the children of the world, red and yellow BLACK and white, they are precious in his sight...", aww hell you know the rest. Yeah whatever happened to that?

Oh lemme guess, Jesus loves everybody in the world unless you happen to be Black and living in the White House and leader of the free world, right? So like, this Jesus guy and his daddy pretty much sanctioned the invasion of Iraq by appearing in a dream to George Bush, causing death and destruction, but yet he doesn't like Michelle Obama's arms? Wow, what a critic this Jesus guy and his followers are. I say critic because using the word hypocritical would be so wrong of a description.

Oh by the way, here's one last shot from another article from the same Jesus loving writer on the same Jesus loving website:

"If we were a racist society, Oprah Winfrey, your fairy godmother, certainly wouldn't be a billionaire; she'd be fetching someone's mint julep. And Colin Powell and Condoleezza Rice wouldn't grow up to be secretaries of state; they'd be sweeping out the stables. And Will Smith and Denzel Washington wouldn't be movie stars; they'd be in the fields picking cotton." - Burt Prelutsky

Damn, I'm so glad they cleared that all up because I was just about to call the author who made the Michelle Obama/James Brown connection racist. Oh well, I guess its true that all Black people look alike. Yup, we sure do and that has nothing to do with being racist. Hell, if this country were racist, Will Smith would be still picking cotton. It would appear that the Jesus loving website has since retracted the "she's a bitch" line because it's no longer in the piece. I guess this was due in part by the vigilance of Chris Kelly, over at Huffington Post for his expose.

God Bless America!

Michelle Obama Feeds The Homeless And The Right Wing Loons Hate Poor People

First Lady Michelle Obama visited a soup kitchen that feeds the homeless not too far from the White House a few days ago. The place is called Miriam's Kitchen, and its known to serve 300 people everyday, mostly men. The center also has a volunteer staff of 1,200 people.

Upon her visit, Mrs. Obama presented a donation of food collected by White House Staff employees. Given our failing economy, with people losing homes and struggling to put food on the table, one has to conclude this as a very nice and welcomed gesture. But not so fast, not everyone sees it this way.

As usual, right wing conservatives are using the pic above as an opportunity to bash president Obama's economic policy, and liberalism in general. Instead of their focus being on the obvious need for community activism, volunteerism, and service, they're concerned about the gentleman in the pic above possessing a cell phone. That's right folks, forget about the 300 people this center feeds per day being only blocks away from The White House. Or the fact that people are struggling to maintain; never mind that. Instead, the question from them is: How can a person be homeless and have a cell phone?

Here's an example from the blog of the great oxygen thief known as Michelle Malkin:

"In D.C., the homeless are just like you and me, and they have cell phones, they have cell phones.

Via Andrew Malcolm, here is one of the homeless cell phone owners snapping a pic of First Lady Michelle Obama — ruining what was supposed to be a sob story photo op of the compassionate Mrs. O catering to the downtrodden.

Say cheese!

Some folks are wondering where the cell phone bills get sent.

The answer is obvious: ACORN headquarters."

source

That's right folks, and the insanity doesn't just stop there. Here is what was said in an article in the LATimes by writer Andrew Malcolm. This is actually the piece that sparked this whole thing:

"these news photos were widely distributed across the country and even around the world.

It doesn't detract from the first lady's generous gesture or the real needs she seeks to highlight to ask two bothersome journalistic questions about these news photos:

If this unidentified meal recipient is too poor to buy his own food, how does he afford a cellphone?

And if he is homeless, where do they send the cellphone bills?"

source

But, but, but, wait...it gets worse! Here's another exceprt from another right wing nutjob Kathy Shaidle of the blog "Five Feet of Fury":

"Today's "poor" are the rich Jesus warned you about: fat, slovenly, wasteful of their money and other people's.

I prefer to call them "the broke."

A lot of (really naive) people are wondering (or pretending to wonder, when they're in public) how this "homeless" guy could "afford" a cellphone:

It would be better phrased: why is a guy with a cellphone homeless? Because then the question answers itself.

He spends all his (our) money on cellphones and, most likely, tattoos and drugs and booze and other crap, and has no money left for a home and food. And why should he bother? We pay for his shelter and food anyhow."

source

And yet people wonder why the republican party is out of touch. It's this very mindset which is responsible for the virtual ass whoopin they received at the polls last November. But I guess they've got their heads so far up their asses to see what's really happening in this country. Somebody needs to tell the small minded midget who wrote that last bit above what's really going on.

These are the same people who criticize president Obama's Rescue & Recovery Program for the economy, and applaud republican governors for refusing to accept any federal funds from said program. That's right, the same funds which could provide much needed extensions on unemployment assistance and food stamps for citizens who are trying to stay alive without having to stand in line at a soup kitchen.

Yup, these same assholes were quick to support the give away of $750 billion without question to banks upon the urgency of Bush & Company, but are questioning poor people having cell phones? Hell, who's to say this guy in the pic above was in fact a homeless person. And even if he was, what the hell is wrong with him having a cell phone. Must the poor lose all sense of dignity before a hand is outreached to them? And hell, I thought this was about community service and volunteerism. How the hell did it become about them spending tax payer dollars?

What I find rather ironic, is that this criticism is coming from these fear mongering, war loving ass clowns on the right, when there are approximately 250,000 homeless veterans who sleep on the streets and shelters every damn night. Hell, I don't know the guy in the pic, but chances are he just might be a veteran. Now wouldn't that be a bitch if he was?

And even if he was, and was actually homeless, wouldn't it be a good idea that he had a cell phone if not anything else in trying to find a job? Apparently that's not a good idea either to Michelle Malkin and her com padres. According to Ms. Malkin, "slum dwellers" like the lady she wrote about in this piece right here, should not have 60 inch television sets in their homes. That said, how dare they have cell phones?!! Oh well, if today's "poor" are the rich Jesus warned us about, I wonder who were the rich people he was talking about back then. Surely they couldn't have been republicans.

SO NOW THAT OBAMA IS PRESIDENT, DOES IT MAKE CPT TIME OFFICIAL?

Initially I wanted to do some live blogging as I watched the inauguration. But that was impossible to do because of the enormous range of feelings and emotions running though me just sitting in front of the TV. To sum it up: it was a good idea, but wrong event to even attempt such a feat; that's why there was no pre-inaugural blogs from me on here.

But now that its over, I guess I can recap just a few of the thoughts I had in my head at the time as I was watching. Some of them, I'm hopefully not the only one to think about it. But then again, you folks already know how my mind works. So without further ado, I bring to you, my inauguration thoughts, post inauguration of course...

1) Maybe it was just me, but I was embarrassed that the event ran late. They said that its usually planned down to the minute and they have been successful in doing so in the past. Then here we have the first Black President and the event ran late? Not a good look for us Black folk. Hell, we're always accused of showing up late to pretty much everything. And here at one of the most monumental moments in Black history...we run late. Does this mean that CPT (Colored People Time) is now an official standard now that Barack is in the White House?

2) Michelle Obama's outfit she wore that day was hot. She looked sexy as hell in a formal event sorta way. You know like, if she was at the office Christmas party in that outfit, I'd try to sneak her into an office closet and...well, you know whumsayin. If I were a drag queen I'd definitely have to find a very similar outfit; green leather gloves included of course. No joke, she looked so good she made me wanna send her child support payments knowing her kids aren't mine.

3) The kids (Sasha & Malia) were adorable. They looked so cute and well mannered that I doubt we'll ever see a repeat of the Bush twins escapades. Yup, no fake ID stunts here.

4) Bill Clinton looked like a pimp as he walked into the place. Jimmy Carter and his wife still looked good. But what the fuck is up with George "Big Poppa" Bush? And will Barbara Bush always look like an old lady? Can it get worse for her? I mean she looked like an old lady 20yrs ago. And unlike her husband, she looks like she hasn't aged a day in her life. Big Bush could hardly walk, and reminded me of a penguin the way he waddled around. Hell, I thought the event was gonna be over before he could go down the stairs and find his seat!

5) I was watching it on CNN, and they showed the VIP's as they showed up and were seated. Was that really Muhammad Ali? I haven't seen the brother in a while and I know he has Parkinson's, but man he sure didn't look anything like himself. I was glad that he was able to attend.

6) Speaking of which: Why was Steven Spielberg there? I know Alex Haley is dead and all, but Steven didn't have shit to do with the movie "Roots". Oh my bad, he had something to do with "Amistad". I get it, but what the hell has Dustin Hoffman done, and why was he a VIP invitee? Where was Danny Glover? Hell, maybe even Flava Flav even? I wished I saw more prominent Black celebrities. And no CNN, flashing to a scene of New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin with a tear in his eye doesn't count.

7) When they introduced or announced Aretha Franklin just before she sung, fear and curiosity overcame me. Everybody was talking about what Michelle Obama would be wearing to the ball, but I was concerned about what Aretha was gonna be wearing as she sung at this event. The last few times I've seen her perform at events she has managed to wear clothing that was rather revealing. And the last thing I wanted to see was the Queen Of Soul performing at the inauguration with her titties, or back fat hanging out. She didn't disappoint me and I thought her hat was beautiful. Plus my favorite color is green, and she looked good.

8) Rick Warren prayed too damn long. Hell I think he went overboard and tried to be a lil extra to make up from the backlash of him being invited to do the invocation. Matter of fact, I think he's still praying right now. Give it up Rick, you did good and nobody boo'd you. Well, nobody that we heard on TV anyway. Speaking of which, wouldn't it be cool of they had the Sandman from the Amateur Night At The Apollo to come out and dance while he was praying and forced him to exit stage left?

9) Oh yeah, Obama's official limo, "the beast" is the shit son! I'm not really a Cadillac man myself even having owned two in my life, but this limo has renewed my love. I almost wanna purchase a new one, but I'm sure the brothers in Memphis would beat me to it, and with customization, they sure would make mine look less presidential in comparison. Can you imagine how theirs would look?

10) For the first time through this whole thing, Barack looked nervous as he walked in to be introduced before being sworn in. I was wondering if it was the enormity of the event sinking in. Or was it the rash of death threats he received just prior? I wish there was a way CNN was able to report on the number of death threats received the way they did the commercials for "Black In America II".

11) My most priceless moment of it all was not seeing Obama take the oath. If it was, that moment was fucked by the Supreme Court Justice Roberts anyway. Speaking of which, I was kinda unhappy that CNN kept Clarence Thomas on my TV screen as long as they did prior to the start of the event. But anyway. My most priceless moment was seeing Dick Cheney in a wheelchair. talk about Poetic Justice, and exiting stage left. This asshole in the last few weeks or month even, has been quite the defiant supporter of all the bullshit him and his sidekick George Bush (yes Bush was his sidekick, did you think Bush was really running the country?) has put us through over the last 8yrs. Any normal person (other than me) would have had sympathy for the man seeing him incapacitated like that and being reduced to a wheelchair for the changing of the guard. But not me. I saw it as payback, and I was kinda hoping that the frail older looking lady pushing him around would slip and allow him to roll down the steps at the scene of the event kinda like O.J. in the "Naked Gun" movie.

This is all I can think of for right now that sticks out in my mind today 24hrs later. Maybe you guys can identify with some of this. Maybe you can't. But at any rate, these were just some of my random thoughts during one of the most historic events in American history. Sure they may sound dumb, but dammit its my reality. And besides, it was an event that will forever be remembered by everyone around the world.

Care to share any of your odd thoughts?
