Slave Catcher of the Week: Pastor James David Manning supports Virginia's Confederate History Month and uses the bible to endorse slavery

He just never stops, or fails to astound me ladies and gentlemen:

Yep, I know it's early in the week, and too early to pass out this most prestigious award. However, after watching the following video. I think you'd be hard pressed to come up with another well deserving recipient this week. I mean it's pretty hard to beat this especially given the fact that he brought God and the Bible into it, right?

Personally I don't see the big thrill in wanting to celebrate losing anything. But then again I'm not big on the bible or the marriage of religion and politics. Last time I checked, we're involved in two wars overseas all because of the fact that a few people are of the belief that words in a book justifies them flying planes in very tall buildings in America. We call them terrorists, but I suppose in Virginia the Confederate Army should be heralded as patriots (?). I mean after all: God wanted it that way, right?

Confederate History Month: "Celebrate Good Times, Come On!" (Let's Celebrate!)

There's a party goin' on right here
A celebration to last throughout the years

So bring your bull whips, and your nooses too
We gonna celebrate your party with you!

Well that's not really how the song by Cool and the Gang goes, but that's might as well be the remix when you start listening to politicians who think it's not offensive to people of color, specifically black folks, to celebrate confederate history.

Before I jump all over that bullshyt, let's consider some historical moments that are considered taboo to celebrate.
  •  Holocaust barn fire nights!
  • Atomic drop a bomb Japanese fireworks festivities!
  • Slip and Slide kill an Iraqi for oil day!
  • Small Pox and Native Americans quilt event!
  • Southeast Asia butt fvcking greasy mornings!
But I digress, for a Mississippi Governor, Haley, Barbour, to declare that his state celebrates Confederate Memorial Day is not surprising. [Source] It's fvcking Mississippi Governor. Now this isn't to say that the people of Mississippi are any less or greater than any other citizen in the United States. However, a person's psyche is directly correlated to that person's environment. And we all know that Mississippi's history regarding slavery, segregation, and it's ties to the Klu Klux Klan is legendary.

The Prison Industrial Complex: Is the Criminal Justice System the New Jim Crow?

Where it concerns the criminal justice system and the minority communities—primarily African American and Hispanic, something has changed. Perhaps my experience is unique, but when I was a child, those families in my community with family members incarcerated were few and far between, at least, as far as we knew because going to prison, or the “pen” as my grandmother called it, was deemed disgraceful, so families often went to great pains to hide the incarceration of a family member. But today there is hardly any family that has not been affected the incarceration of a family member. According to the numbers, in 1980 only 350,000 were incarcerated; by the turn of the century, that number had increased to over 2 million.

But let me ask you this question: Why do you believe this is so? Is it because things have gotten so bad in our neighborhoods and in society at large that this level of incarceration is warranted? But what if I told you that actual crime rates are incommensurate with actual rates of incarceration, that though crime rates have remained relatively stable, incarceration rates have continued to rise?

Is it the overall effectiveness of “The War on Drugs”? Or is it warranted because of the prevalence of drugs, particularly crack cocaine, in our neighborhoods? But what if I informed you that “The War on Drugs” actually predates the emergence of the crack cocaine epidemic and was mainly a political ploy to attract swing voters? Or that when “The War on Drugs” was precipitated, drug use was on the decline; in fact, at that time, only 2% of Americans thought that drug abuse was an actual problem?

I have always held the assumption that the criminal justice system’s primary function was that of public safety; it worked to maintain an overall sense of public security by keeping our streets safe and putting those dangerous individuals who threatened that sense of safety behind bars where they belong. However, after reading Michelle Alexander’s book The New Jim Crow: Mass Incarceration in the Age of Colorblindness and consulting various sources, I am prepared to change my views.

What are your views about the current criminal justice system? Do you think it fairly dispenses justice, or does it unfairly target minorities and the poor? What are your experiences with the criminal justice system?

Join us at Freedom thru Speech Radio as we discuss this nation’s criminal justice system and seek to answer these questions and more. Tonight we will be introducing our new co-host, The Janitor of the blog Urban Politico. How Exactly Does One Omit Slavery From Civil War History?

Visit msnbc.com for breaking news, world news, and news about the economy

By now you have heard about Virginia Governor Bob McDonnell trying to erase history to make things nice and pretty when talking about Confederates and the Civil War.

I just don't know how one can think of the Civil War and not think of slavery. I mean, I get it. I can see conversations that don't include slavery, but the folks who say it wasn't about slavery at all, are a bunch of morons.

It's more alarming not because it's just insensitive, but because it's part of a growing problem in this country, and that's revisionist and or exclusionist history.

I knew when I went through my textbooks in school that a lot of shit was missing, and a lot of shit was dolled up (I see you, Texas). Luckily, I came from a wise enough household where taking learning into your own hands was key and highly encouraged (if not mandatory at times).

Unfortunately, many households in America these days are only focused on letting their kids pick the hottest gadgets and creating Facebook pages; shit that's highly unnecessary in the grand scheme of things.

Had we not had folks to call foul, this little proclamation of his would've gone unchecked by a vast number of people.

Personally, including slavery into the Civil War is not good enough. Slavery is what made this country an industrial great and enabled it to become a first world country, and not just a failed experiment. Slavery and forced labor (and I mean not just Blacks, but Asians, Mexicans and even European immigrants from the poorer countries and backgrounds) did all the work while a vast number of folks did little if nothing. We should be talking about that whenever we discuss our country's journey to where it is now.

As for McDonnell, wishful thinking, homie.

Top 5 Reasons Why The Sex Was Not "Spectacular", Kiely!

A while back I blogged about this joint here in January.

Looks like Kiely Williams decided to, regretfully and embarrasingly, film and release the video above.

It's cheap, her dancing is basic, the main guy leaves much to be desired, and it's a mess.

Now, here are the top 5 reasons why the sex could not have POSSIBLY been "spectacular."

1) B*tch, your ass was knocked out. That usually classifies it as date rape in MOST civilized countries. How can you enjoy something, when you're blown to high hell?

2) He probably skipped the foreplay, and opted instead to do some unsanitary things to you while you were knocked out. A shower with bleach would most likely not do the trick.

3) You will most likely come to the conclusion that you may have been transmitted an STI/STD, and will therefore pray like hell that it's not HIV, and just Chlamydia. Yay! #microwinning

4) Unless you were smart enough to be on birth control--which based on the lyrical content you were not--you will need to hit that Plan B pill IMMEDIATELY. Or prepare yourself for an appearance on Maury.

5) How do you know his people didn't hit while you were conked out? That would then mean an even MORE humiliating appearance on Maury and lots of research and guesswork as you try to figure out if little Ray-Ray's eyebrows are those of Man number one, two, three or seven. Just saying...

I would love to hear you guys' reasons why the sex was NOT and COULD NOT have been "Spectacular."

Whoopi Admits Cheating, and I Support Her!

I was prepared to get angry at this, but then the fact that Whoopi kept it all the way real made me appreciate what she was trying to say.

One of my greatest regrets is cheating. I think it's so selfish. In fact, it was selfish of me. I stepped on that man's feelings like a monster; like he wasn't even human, but an inanimate object that had no emotions. I got caught once, and stopped for a minute, but kept going after that.

As Whoopi said, I was looking for something. Only problem is, if I still needed to resume my search, I should've had the balls to tell my then husband and keep it moving. At least that way, he would've had the option to support me in that search, or not. I would have given him the option to do what he wanted with his life, as opposed to making that choice for him behind his back.

When I think about Tiger Woods and Jesse James, I feel sorry for them because I see that old me in them, but I also feel anger, probably at myself that manifests itself into anger at them, at how they've made their loved ones feel.

The person you see today is not the same person who would cheat, and to be honest, that person died after karma had its way with her. Trust and believe, everything I did came back to me. I was begging God for it to stop by the time I realized what was really happening.

I think they deserve every bit of conviction they get, but I think it's important to examine what happens in a childhood for someone to grow up and not just make one mistake, but cheat repeatedly and even have those close relationships with the people they cheat with.

I was always astonished at how I formed a parallel relationship with my side pieces. It couldn't have been sex because my husband was fine. I think people always assume the person cheated on did something wrong. That's not the case. Something is wrong with the serial cheater that is only made right when a new person comes in and makes them feel brand new.

Whoopi must have done some growing to admit it and I'm glad she put that out there, without fear of judgment. This is why I am over Tiger Woods. He may have changed at therapy, and only time will tell.

I just hope that God helps him find what he's been looking for all this time.

I Need Shar Jackson To Let It Go

I haven't kept up with Celebrity Fit Club for a few weeks now, but when I did tune in, I was always a little turned off by Shar's sad sack schtick.

I suspect that a lot of Shar's grudge holding comes from her own self-esteem issues stemming from the rejection of her by Kevin for a white woman like Britney Spears. I almost wonder if Shar felt validated at having Kevin, a white male, and lost that validation when he left her, and never came back, having opted for another white woman (his current girlfriend).

I know that rejection hurts, and I bet it hurt doubly when Kevin hightailed for a redneck that they never shoulda give money, but I needed her to be strong for her kids, who are incidentally biracial.

I have never been a fan of black women who date interracially who hang on to white men like crutches. Jasmine from The Real World Cancun comes to mind. I have never let any of my white male relationships dictate my self-esteem. In fact, I knew that was a bunch of shit when one of my high school boyfriends, a white guy, "cheated" on me by sending letters to a basic looking white girl in Bumfuck, California. I was more irritated that he would be writing some basic chick, and not handling his business with me. He was swiftly kicked to the curb that day, after I raged at his ass.

So here's to Shar, who I hope can FINALLY exhale, now that Kevin Federline has given her permission to.

B!tch don't make me hit you! Now bring yo azz over here and give me some love

By Guest Blogger Folk from Black Folk's Don't Swim!
SANDRA Bullock is allegedly “terrified” of her cheating husband Jesse James.

The Oscar-winning actress is worried about what James will do to her if she does decide to file for divorce.

A source close to Bullock says the star will claim both “physical and mental abuse” in her divorce petition.

Sandra will also petition the court to get a restraining order on James from getting within 500 feet of her.

Now Folk ain't going to waste time speculating if this is true or just some internet bullshyt used to stir additional page views. But what Folk want to talk about for a moment is the bullshyt relationships that women sometimes knowingly commit themselves.

In America there is a glorification of the Badboy and the Pussification of the man who pays the bills and is in touch with reality. Yet there is a loud cry that there are no "good" men left in America.

Folk will admit that the declining family unit in America, especially within the black community, has contributed to the decline in males understanding what it means to be a man. However, ladies... If you're going to settle... Then... as a man, why achieve? The decline in Pu$$y value and self worth has only solidified this reality in the minds of many grown boys raised by women or other fvcked up grown boys.

But I digress... Let's take this Sandra Bullock situation. Sandra, definitely an attractive woman whom could chose from the pick of the litter for whose going to spend time with her and give her love lips to. However, the appeal of the "badboy" with those "bedroom skillz" overcame rational thought when it came to choosing her mate. No different than Whitney Houston choosing her "badboy" Bobby Brown. Sandra and Whitney dropped the ball.

Folk has always been confused by this "badboy" phenomenon. Folk's grandparents taught Folk to be a honest, decent, loving, and caring person. To honor the woman. To cherish her. To respect her for the jewel that she is? To be a man and take care of your man duties. Fix shyt. Repair shyt. Keep a fvcking job. Do a good job at what ever you decide to do. Grandma even declared that women loves a man like Folk was growing into.

But grandma didn't know that Folk had been repeatedly told by several young women that Folk approached in school that Folk was "too nice." Or "you're the kind of guy a woman settles down with and I'm not ready for that." "What!"

These same ladies would go on to date their "badboys" and like a crack whore whose found a twenty dollar bill on the corner of crack and coke, they each would fall prey one-by-one. Some to obvious physical abuse. Others to emotional and psychological abuse. Then some would put up with the bullshyt and just complain how bad their "badboy" really is. Seriously?

Folk even found himself in a relationship with a young woman who even told Folk they would feel better if Folk "knocked the shyt out of them." Folk looked in disgust and took their azz back to their house.

Folk a grown azz man and happily married. Folk will tell you that a badboy can't do nothing for you that Folk can't do. No where! Period! But Folk has never laid a hand on any woman to harm or hurt her ever! And Folk's lil lady ain't complaining about that shyt either.

Folk don't get the rationalization to want to be with a man whore because of their bedroom skills and the possibility that they will push your fvcking head into a brick wall because they see you glancing at another motherfvcker. It's fvcking lunacy. Folk don't understand

So you're rather give up the goods to a quick thrill thug whose going to literally kick you out of the hotel room bukkid azz nekkid beat and bruised as soon as they wake up? Then sing about that shyt on their next fvcked up hip-hop single? Really?

Yes, there are a lot of average men in the world that leads boring lives compared to the "badboys" that will prefer to start a fight on Wednesday night. Yes, they may be geeky and read Engadget.com com daily. But with a little love and attention, they'll smack your azz just like the badboy and kiss you afterwards.

Now ladies, Folk know what you really mean when you say you want a "badboy". You're really saying that you don't want no punk-azz-pu$$ified-momma's-boy who can't wipe his own gawt d@mned azz. But Folk must warn the ladies that communication channels are getting twisted and that may be the reason why you keep finding yourself with the azzslapper that really slaps your azz around! Haven't you heard "be careful what you ask for"?

Sure it may not be "hip" to say I want a provider verses "badboy." But it appears to Folk that the preference has truly swung to the beat-me-hit-me-fvck-me-hard then forget about me while you hang with yo' boyz. Just look at every other fvcking video on BET (female videos too).

So ladies, Folk got a question for ya! What the hell does the "badboy" do for you in light of the fact that you "need" a "real" man to properly take care of you?

And fellas, have you ever been passed over for the "badboy"? Or are you the "badboy"?

Speak on it how you want...

South African White Supremacist Leader Gets His Karmic Due

It couldn't have happened to a nicer guy...
Followers of South Africa's slain white supremacist leader Eugene Terreblanche said Sunday they blame a fiery youth leader for spreading hate speech that led to his killing, amid growing racial tensions in the once white-led country.

Terreblanche was bludgeoned to death by two of his farm workers Saturday in an apparent dispute over wages. The 69-year-old was leader of the Afrikaner Weerstandsbeweging movement, better known as the AWB, that wanted to create three all-white republics within South Africa in which blacks would be allowed only as guest workers.

Andre Nienaber, a member of the group and a relative of Terreblanche, said he believed his death was "as a result of Julius Malema's hate speech and direct orders in the media to 'shoot the Boers dead.'"

A symbol of white resistance to democratic black majority rule, he had lived in relative obscurity in recent years but had not changed his views.

He revived the AWB in 2008 and had rallies that drew growing crowds whom he wooed with his declaration that white South Africans are entitled to create their own country, a fight he declared he would take to the International Court at The Hague.

What a shame!  How heartbreaking!  *end sarcasm*

Good riddance to bad rubbish.  Don't you love how his privilege made him feel the need to be an activist for Afrikaners?  Whites entitled to their own country?  Well, shit...  The Boers have no room to talk.  They literally went IN to another country, fought those pesky "kaffir" people, enslaved and imposed apartheid.  "Manifest Destiny" had NOTHING on these cats.

It's not like they sailed their little asses to Antarctica and colonized a piece of uninhabited land.  That would've been creating their own country.  No, they stole an already sovereign country from its rightful owners.

Back to Terreblanche.  This is where karma comes in.  In 1997, Terreblanche was jailed for the attempted murder of a black security guard and the assault of a black gas station worker.  What a gem to humanity!

I think it fitting that he reaped the seeds of hatred and discontent that he was instrumental in putting down.  There are so many people who are still missing their family members who were kidnapped and murdered Jim Crow style in South Africa.

You live by the sword, you die by the sword.

This also goes to show how much work South Africa still needs when black South Africans are still disenfranchised and marginalized.  It is clear that the people that have the power don't have their interest at heart.

A Pope We Can "Count On?"

*Disclaimer: If any of you are Catholic, I beg you not to take umbrage.  I don't have a filter when discussing fuckery.

You know for the last few weeks I've been really irritated everytime that damned "Catholics come home" commercial comes on.  You know the one where these folks talk about how all of a sudden they went from non-practicing to practicing Catholics and how enriched they are spiritually now that they are back.

It irritates me because it's almost condescending considering the pickle the Catholic church and the Pope have found themselves in again.

And you would think there would be some humility, some understanding, some empathy given the news that over 200 boys were molested across the globe in addition to previous cases.

Instead the Church's pitbulls are out in full effect; ego in full effect.  *In best Cartman voice* "Whatevah!  Ah do what ah want!"

The Vatican has taken off the gloves in its response to media reports alleging the pope mishandled a series of abuse cases before he was elected.

It launched a frontal attack on the New York Times on Wednesday night by posting a long statement on its Web Site by Cardinal William J. Levada, who succeeded the pope as head of the Vatican's doctrinal department.

Levada asked the newspaper "to reconsider its attack mode about Pope Benedict XVI and give the world a more balanced view of a leader it can and should count on".

The Vatican has denied any cover-up over the abuse of 200 deaf boys in the United States by Reverend Lawrence Murphy from 1950 to 1974. The New York Times reported the Vatican and Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger, now Pope Benedict, were warned about Murphy but he was not defrocked. (Source)
They also argue that because the Pope is a head of state, he cannot be put on the stand to testify.  They are not a "multi-national corporation."

Are they afraid that maybe he'll show his ignorance and complete and total disregard the way he did when he said Africans didn't need condoms (despite the high HIV and AIDS rates on the continent, and the rapes that occur in places like the Congo?)

Isn't this the same guy that was tied to Nazis in World War II?

Can we REALLY expect this man to show any type of care given his track record for really not giving a damn?  What did we expect now?  Humility?

This is not an attack on the foot soldier in the Church, because some of them are truly out-of-the-box thinkers, and they don't always follow the Church's outdate, self-righteous, morally condescening and out of touch doctrines.  I guess I just want to know how much longer before the world as a whole decides to DEMAND that they get their shit together?

I think anyone and everyone who willingly participated in these cover ups and abuses of innocent children should be arrested and tried.  If that means the Pope, so be it.  He is just a man, and God sees him the same way he sees you or me.  The Pope is simply a vessel.  If he fails at his task, he should be punished the same way we would be.  Period.
