The Thin Line Between Sex Addiction and Just Plain Sluttiness

by JuJuBe (Joanna)

I am constantly seeking love and acceptance. I want to feel like someone sees me as an important person, even if only for a few hours. Which could possibly be why I seem to be so intent on participating in sexual activity so damn much!

I actually told a friend the other day that I wish I had someone who would touch me, caress me, kiss me and love me. And after I said I wanted someone to love me I added "or at least pretend they do". On other occasions when I have spoken about wanting to feel loved, I have added "at least for a few hours".

It seems I am seeking something, a way to fill a void in my life. And, unfortunately, sex often seems to be the best remedy for my empty feelings.

Which wouldn't be so bad if I actually had a steady partner. Instead, I end up allowing a random series of men into my life, into my home, indeed, into my BODY hoping to fill the void. Yes, I am satisfied for a short while, but eventually that feeling of perpetual loneliness returns, and I find myself right back on line seeking my next "fix".

I have always wondered if I was a sex addict. Those questionnaires that are supposed to help you determine the answer are pretty useless. According to some of them, everyone and his uncle is an addict when it comes to sex. But, I do see a lot of "issues" surrounding sex in my life.

It’s the world of things and actions, appointments and careers, earning a living and cleaning the house, embarking on tightly scheduled vacations and going to the movies. It’s where we turn when we need to feel the ground under our feet. It’s what we think of when we think we feel the need to reaffirm that there is something basic and immutable, something solid and unchanging that can provide a primal sense of stability in a decidedly amorphous and ever-changing world.

This is what we call the real world.

We all need stability in one form or another: it’s a matter of emotional survival. We need a fundamental template with which to define an ordered, reasonably predictable world over a reality that is essentially defined by chaos. Without an organizing principle everything becomes random, meaningless, uncertain. In order to avoid this senselessness, this sense existential angst, we have been conditioned to turn to the world of reason, the world of conscious direction and illusory control. We call this, unequivocally, the real world, as if any other way of finding direction, setting our course, defining ourselves and the world around us were mere illusion.

Kicked to the Curb: 90-Year Old Woman Loses Her Home to Foreclosure

The city of Memphis TN. is rich in African American history. It's black population quadrupled between 1860 and 1870 as new freedoms of emancipation took hold. Being the third largest city in the southeast (and 19th largest in the country) with a predominantly black population (62%), one can only imagine just how the current economic fallout has greatly affected the city, and its residents.

The national economic crisis spurred by greed via Wall Street and the bursting of the housing bubble, is currently felt by many here in the city. In fact, this city exists as one of many examples of just how the combination of rising black unemployment, the recession, and foreclosures, have all served to wipe away the gains of the black middle and upper class.

According to a recent study conducted by Queens College for The New York Times, the median income of black homeowners in Memphis, has receded to a level lower than that of 1990 - and roughly half that of white homeowners. Clearly, as unemployment lags during this economic crisis, things will continue to get worse for people of color, not only in Memphis, but nationwide.

Two Black Republicans Elected to Congress: Thank You Jesus; We're Finally Post-Racial!

I'm not in a very good mood right now, folks. Well, put it this way, there's some stuff I'm hearing that has me pretty foul right about now; and it has to do with my beloved president. I hope it's just a rumor, but I'm hearing talk about the White House caving to the republicans, and choosing to extend the Bush Tax Cuts. Yeah, that combined with the talk of proposed cuts to Social Security, and an increase in gas tax has me a little ticked off right now.

But I don't want to to talk about that right now; no, not yet. However, I do want to throw something out there that I received in email a couple of days ago from my cousin AverageBro. It's an article written by that beautiful Nubian Goddess above, Star Parker. A woman who up until a little over a week ago, like me, didn't believe that here in Amuur'cuh, our society is post-racial. However, she firmly believes we are now, and here's why:
Will the NAACP be celebrating the arrival of two new black faces to the U.S. House of Representatives?

Don’t hold your breath. They certainly will not.  These two new black congressmen are Republicans.

There’s a powerful message here that should and must be digested.

We have arrived in post-racial America but establishment blacks – lodged in the political left – refuse to accept it and are doing all they can to get black citizens to refuse to accept it.

The sobering reality is that the black political establishment doesn’t want Dr. King’s dream.  They don’t want an America where people are judged by the content of their character.  They want an America that is Democrat and left wing and this is what they promote today under the banner of civil rights.

The campaign by the NAACP and leading black journalists – all liberals – to paint the Tea Party movement, the push back against government growth and intrusiveness over the last two years, as motivated by racism is shameful.

Top Social Security Myths: Don't Drink the Kool Aid!

¡Hola! Everybody…

Dang! The Neocon Zombies are back again. I swear! You can’t kill this plague of failed ideas no matter how many time they fail. Who's next? Milton Friedman?!!

Today, perhaps emboldened by the recent elections, the goobers, with the help of some very powerful people, are spreading misinformation about one of the most successful government programs ever (and not just in the US, but globally) in order to scare people into passively accepting benefit cuts. Even so-called “liberals” such as Lawrence O'Donnell (who calls himself a socialist ::cough::) and Dylan Ratigan, are framing the social security debate in a way that makes it a foregone conclusion that cuts must be sustained.

Truth be told, O'Donnell is a dyed-in-the-wool corporate democrat cut from the same Rahm Emmanuel (and now Obama) cloth. The assumption that SS must be cut/ taken apart/ given as a gift to Wall St. to mangle is pure, unadulterated bullshit. Don't be a sheeple (<-- same as teabagger). Check out this list of Social Security myths and share it with your friends, family and coworkers.

Stop. Look. Listen...

Myth: Social Security is going broke.

Reality: There is no Social Security crisis. By 2023, Social Security will have a $4.3 trillion surplus (yes, trillion with a 'T'). It can pay out all scheduled benefits for the next quarter-century with no changes whatsoever. After 2037, it’ll still be able to pay out 75% of scheduled benefits--and again, that's without any changes. The program started preparing for the Baby Boomers retirement decades ago. Anyone who insists Social Security is broke probably wants to break it themselves.

Myth: We have to raise the retirement age because people are living longer.

Reality: This is a red-herring to trick you into agreeing to benefit cuts. Retirees are living about the same amount of time as they were in the 1930s. The reason average life expectancy is higher is mostly because many fewer people die as children than did 70 years ago. What's more, what gains there have been are distributed very unevenly -- since 1972, life expectancy increased by 6.5 years for workers in the top half of the income brackets, but by less than 2 years for those in the bottom half. But those intent on cutting Social Security love this argument because raising the retirement age is the same as an across-the-board benefit cut.

For Colored Boys Who Have Considered Suicide When Not Getting Hired Because of Gold Fronts is Enuf

Alright, I know what you're thinking; and no, this isn't one of those posts where I rip the movie apart. Nor is it one of those posts where I defend the movie "For Colored Girls..." from the criticisms of the Neo-Negro Bourgeois, as I'm known to do. The truth is, I haven't seen the movie, the play, nor have I read the book.

There has been much back and forth as to be expected about the movie especially since Tyler Perry was involved in its production. However, since every black blogger has an obligatory "For Colored... [insert whatever's fucked up about the Black community here]" who am I to be any different.

Not to get into a black gender war or anything, but since the movie - from what I heard - had more to do with "colored boys" and their dysfunctional behavior. I wanted to take a moment to shine some light on some pretty damning news via a study released yesterday by Council of the Great City Schools, via The New York Times:
An achievement gap separating black from white students has long been documented — a social divide extremely vexing to policy makers and the target of one blast of school reform after another.

But a new report focusing on black males suggests that the picture is even bleaker than generally known.

Only 12 percent of black fourth-grade boys are proficient in reading, compared with 38 percent of white boys, and only 12 percent of black eighth-grade boys are proficient in math, compared with 44 percent of white boys.

Poverty alone does not seem to explain the differences: poor white boys do just as well as African-American boys who do not live in poverty, measured by whether they qualify for subsidized school lunches.

The data was distilled from highly respected national math and reading tests, known as the National Assessment for Educational Progress, which are given to students in fourth and eighth grades, most recently in 2009. The report, “A Call for Change,” is to be released Tuesday by the Council of the Great City Schools, an advocacy group for urban public schools.

Although the outlines of the problem and many specifics have been previously reported, the group hopes that including so much of what it calls “jaw-dropping data” in one place will spark a new sense of national urgency.

“What this clearly shows is that black males who are not eligible for free and reduced-price lunch are doing no better than white males who are poor,” said Michael Casserly, executive director of the council.

The report shows that black boys on average fall behind from their earliest years. Black mothers have a higher infant mortality rate and black children are twice as likely as whites to live in a home where no parent has a job. In high school, African-American boys drop out at nearly twice the rate of white boys, and their SAT scores are on average 104 points lower. In college, black men represented just 5 percent of students in 2008.

The analysis of results on the national tests found that math scores in 2009 for black boys were not much different than those for black girls in Grades 4 and 8, but black boys lagged behind Hispanics of both sexes, and they fell behind white boys by at least 30 points, a gap sometimes interpreted as three academic grades.

The search for explanations has recently looked at causes besides poverty, and this report may further spur those efforts.
Great, because this news is so bad that this is something we must discuss, folks. As a matter of fact, in light of this revealing study, I'm now motivated to start an online movement in an attempt to save our "colored boys".

The Baby Momma's Momma's Momma: Ignorance, Guilt, Religion, & Disregard

by Tracy Renee Jones

She’s twenty years old now. My greatest accomplishment and most trying and involved personal project, my daughter is so very much the reason that I still exist. I wouldn’t be here had it not been for her being here. I’m not sure at what point I would go back in time and choose to do anything differently. So many links in a chain of events contributed to her being here.

Life is supposed to be precious because ‘they’ say so, but life isn’t precious. Nor is life a great blessing, nor is life a journey. Life…..is a repetitive cycle of complicated challenges, innumerable daily obstacles, disappointments, frustrations, and thankless requirements.

Life is a bitch…and then you die. I have life, because I chose to give my daughter life, because I was taught that that is the ‘right’ thing to do. I live, because I’ve always been painfully aware of what life is really like and I refuse to allow my daughter to face THIS shit on her own.

Pastor James David Manning: "Sarah Palin is a Hardcore Closet Racist" [VIDEO]

I don't know what type of Jedi Mind Trick, Pastor David Manning is pulling. But I'm really at a loss for words that my favorite slave catcher has been this forthcoming with his feelings on Sarah Palin. A hardcore closet racist? Sarah Palin? This from the most slave catching-est slave catcher in America? Really??

OK, so now he says all of this after the GOP/Tea Party has been victorious in last weeks elections? Lemme guess, someone over at "Massa Charlie Inc." has informed him that his services will no longer be needed; yeah, I'm sensing that his last check bounced, and well, obviously, he's just a tad bit upset... and black again?

Sorry Pastor Manning, don't be mad 'cuz Sarah Palin dissed you over the heat you got making Ann Coulter's tweet a "favorite" of yours on Twitter [click to read tweet and see pic]. A tweet that included a TwitPic of a sign outside of Pastor Manning's church that said: "The blood of Jesus against Obama History made 4 Nov 2008 a Taliban Muslim illegally elected President USA: Hussein."

I gotta give it to him, he brought the pain as he skillfully intertwined his usual bullshit; what, can't expect him to change spots overnight; once a slave catcher always a slave catcher. However, what he said about Palin was spot on, as far as her obvious support of racism, and her refusal to acknowledge even her black shadow... or Pastor Manning and his Church of Slave Catchers in Christ.

So yeah Sarah, Manning is right; you are a closet racist... oops, a hardcore closet racist. And I'm willing to bet that had she not been put on blast, she would have kept that tweet in her favorites. And as per usual, she would not be forced to blame the media anyone for her "mistake" as she's known to do oh so often.

Old Navy Advertising Race FAIL!

by JuJuBe (Joanna)

Wow, how offensive can an advertisement get?? The commercial shows a Black female mannequin, two Black child mannequins and a Black male mannequin. There is also a white child mannequin, and a white human female. While the advertisement is for the outerwear, the white woman wants to possess the Black male instead.

How many times have we seen this same tired imagery? A Black male as a sexual object for the pleasure of a white woman, rather than as a human being. Nothing new there. This commercial takes it a step further though, because not only is this man objectified by the lustful white woman, but he is literally an object.

He is a lifeless mannequin, which she feels perfectly justified in dragging home with her. Pulling him away from what I can only guess is supposed to be his family. And to add even more insult, this is a sale; 50% off! Kind of brings to mind a slave auction. A white woman purchasing a "Black buck" to serve as her (sex) slave. And the Black female and children and left behind, silenced. They can not say a single word in protest as the man is dragged off by this predatory woman.

Note that only the two white females in the commercial are living, breathing human beings. In most of the Old Navy commercials, all of the characters are mannequins. But not in this one. In this one, the white women are given their humanity, while the Black family are merely decorative objects. Apparently, in this day and age, Black people mannequins have no rights which white women are bound to respect.

Barack Obama: The New Slumdog Millionaire Costs Taxpayers $2 Billion on Trip to India

See What $2 Billion Gets You?
I think it's pretty funny how "certain people" scrutinize Barack Obama and any member of his immediate family when they travel overseas. It's almost like people are following their every move because they expect them to do something that of course qualifies them as un-American. This much attention has never been paid to any other first family in history; and even though I kinda have an idea, I still wonder why this is so.

I'm not sure if Barack gets this much attention because of the fact that he's black. I mean, black folks in America were entering restaurants via back doors just last week, so I'm sure for some white folks, his etiquette may be a concern. I'm pretty sure when he goes to other countries and meet dignitaries, and it's televised nationally, people expect him to act "niggerish", throw out a few fist bumps, and curse on occasion.

What, that's just what black folks do, right?

Sure it sounds stereotypical, but I can't be mad if that's what they expect. Hell, every president before Obama   has entered other countries by jumping out of a plane wearing a green beret a la John Wayne. I mean this is the first black president so quite naturally "certain people" expect to see a Richard Pryor routine with a few crotch grabs, and few choice words thrown in for good measure.

But not our Barack Obama. Our president has carried himself with much grace as would any black guy raised by white folks. Sorry white America, it's the other Negroes you have to worry about; you know, the ones raised without a fathers while their welfare queen mothers stay in and out of jail while addicted to crack. Yes white America, no need to worry, our president though black is somewhat privileged like some of you.
