Just a quick follow-up on the news of the suspended sentences of the Scott Sisters by Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour which I'm sure will be seen as a hater move by some. But as I posed the question in a recent piece as to the significance of release being contingent on a kidney transplant. The following by Susan Donaldson James of ABC News, raises some good questions; questions which I believe needs to be sorted out, or at least considered:
Ethicists say suspending a prison sentence on the condition that one sister give the other a kidney is a "quid pro quo" and threatens the ethical underpinnings of living donation laws.
Dr. William Hurlburt, a Stanford neurologist who sat on the President's Council on Ethics, said the news was troubling.
"We pondered over and over this issue and came to the conclusion that it was such a tricky medical realm with so much risk for abuse that we agreed organ donation must always remain altruistic," he said.
[...] "As soon as the governor began throwing around commutation -- getting out of her prison sentence -- he began to undercut the ethical framework," said Dr. Art Caplan, director of the Center for Bioethics at the University of Pennsylvania. "He has now put the sisters' donation in jeopardy because the parole is absolutely a payment, which is against the law. It would be considered pressure or coercion."
I've been on information overload so I've purposely unplugged from all news sources and media for the holidays. Call it a mini-vacation, but it was much needed; hell, even professional racism chasers get worn down from time to time. So when at 3am this morning I read that Mississippi governor Haley Barbour announced that he was going to free the Scott Sisters, I was excited and overjoyed. No seriously, at 3am, such a feeling is a major occurrence.
But when I read the part in the article that their release was contingent on one of them donating a kidney to the other, I was like, "tha f@#k kinda shit is that?" Yeah, I got just a tad bit pissed off. I mean, spending 16yrs of a life sentence for "allegedly" committing a robbery that net $11 seemed to be injustice enough that warranted their release. But no, not in Mississippi, you gotta give up an organ? That is, unless you're sitting on death row...
Ah yeah, I never thought I would say this about Jaun Williams, but then again, I'm the guy who defended him after being dumped by NPR while you people continued to berate him. But as the saying goes, a broken clock is right twice a day. That said, everything Williams said above in the wake of the defeat of the DREAM Act is on point. Yep, the defeat of the DREAM Act is yet another victory for the racist anti-immigration movement. But hey, we've talked about this a time or two on this site before, right? Yep, score one for racism.
I mean why would your elected officials vote yes to giving a path to citizenship for individuals when in truth such a move puts white people at a disadvantage. I mean, when you're told that the DREAM Act will help "illegal aliens" replace "old white men" in the senate. One can only expect said senators to go into survival mode and vote no against a measure that would reduce deficits by $2.2 billion over the next 10yrs. And not only that, over the same time period, according to the CBO, would add $1.7 billion to government revenue.
But they say it's a giveaway or "back-door amnesty" to them "illegals", and of course Amuur'cuh doesn't do deals with criminals. Never-mind the requirement of qualified undocumented immigrant having to obtain a higher education or even the exercising highest form of patriotism alive by serving in the military; yeah, never-mind that. What's important is securing life and liberty for white folks as was intended per the constitution. I mean hell, what would America be if white folks were to "lose their freedom" because of this.
But sharing the dream isn't the only thing hated by white folks in Amuur'cuh. Now I'm hearing that Mississippi governor Haley Barbour's buddies whom he recently praised for keeping the KKK in check - the Council for Conservative Citizens - are a bit pissed off at Idris Elba's role of Heimdall in the upcoming movie Thor. Now mind you, Elba doesn't play the lead role in this movie; but like Thor, he too is a God, and, well, that just ain't right according to the same people who fought school desegregation after Brown v. Board of Education. You know, the same people praised by Haley Barbour who made the civil rights era "not so bad," because of the pretty white girls around?
It seems that Marvel Studios believes that white people should have nothing that is unique to themselves. An upcoming movie, based on the comic book Thor, will give Norse mythology an insulting multi-cultural make-over. One of the Gods will be played by Hip Hop DJ Idris Elba.
Marvel has a history of advocating for the left-wing. In early 2010 they even used their Captain America comic to attack the TEA Party movement. Marvel front man Stan "Lee" Lieber personally funds left-wing political candidates. Now Marvel has inserted left-wing social engineering into European mythology, casting a black man to play a Norse deity.
I would say that somewhere right now there's a Native American somewhere with a tear on his cheek after reading this, but that would be wrong. I mean I can understand the frustration of these white folks over a black man being cast as a God. I mean it's bad enough that there's a black Messiah occupying 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. after all these years. And now you add insult to injury by having a black man desecrate Norse mythology? Yeah, a Hip Hop DJ?!!
OK, so there are a lot of black guys who play for the Minnesota Vikings, but that isn't a concern; besides, they suck this year. What's important is the depiction of white folks as savage conquers and historic accuracy, I suppose. Which when you think of it, might just be the reason they're fighting Idris Elba being in this movie; as well as, the idea of granting a pathway to citizenship to the children of undocumented immigrants.
One of the things I hate about the getting-to-know-you phase as you establish relationships with people, is the lame attempts to establish some form of commonality. More to the point, I really detest the "Mr. Me Too" asshats that I encounter on occasion in life. You know, the people who are compelled to meet any discussion of your achievements, accomplishments or activities with the juvenile practice of one-upmanship?
Yeah, people like that I can't deal with ever; not in a manner that would require us to be friends. Which is really funny considering I just accepted a Facebook friend request from an old college "acquaintance" who fits the description of the very type of person I'm talking about. Yep, the minute they start speaking I start thinking cheesy cornball used car salesman, in a cheap ugly plaid polyester suit, smacking gum as they tell me lies.
Oh yeah, that sounds just like my old college buddy, and Mississippi governor Haley Barbour in a recent Human Events interview with Peter Robinson. In it, Barbour has raised a hornets nest with the following:
[T]he people who led the change of parties in the South, just as I mentioned earlier, was my generation. My generation who went to integrated schools — I went to integrated college, um, never thought twice about it. And it was the old Democrats who had fought for segregation so hard. By my time, people realized that was the past, it was indefensible, it wasn't gonna be that way any more.So the people who really changed the South from Democrat to Republican was a different generation from those who fought integration.
Sorry Mister Barbour, I was born at night but not last night. Sorry pal, but forty or fifty odd years ago you were in your early twenties, and barely of age to purchase liquor. That said, it's hard to believe that his generation lead any efforts to create a fair and just existence for the then segregated blacks citizens of the south; and in particular, the state of Mississippi.
I know we're post racial now and all, but please don't bullshit me.
Steve Kornaki's piece, "The GOP's new fake racial history" over at Salon, shines a 10,000 watt spotlight on the egregious attempt at revisionist history which paints today's republican party as Negro friendly in lockstep with the heroes of the civil rights movement. Anyone with integrity who is not of the intellectually dishonest persuasion will tell you that the old racist democrats of the south migrated to what's now the republican party.
Interestingly, David Weigel points out that this isn't the first time Barbour has pulled the "race card" for political expediency. In 1982 he challenged Sen. John Stennis (D-Miss.), who was then the last of the dying breed of segregationists in politics. Back then, he pointed out Stennis' racist voting record so as to appeal to black voters. One can suggest that he's attempting to do the same as he tunes up for 2012's presidential run.
Sorry Haley, by racist southern standards, blacks are dumb. But Negroes who voted for Obama in 2008, aren't as dumb as you think they are. At least not as dumb as the ones who identify themselves as Black Republicans, who choose to believe and digest the turds that you spewed from that gaping hole on your face.

Last week the good news was the pickup of the most jobs in one month in three years - 162,000 to be exact. Today the new hype is that the Dow Jones is slightly above 11,000 for the first time in a year and a half. Both are indicators of the economy slowly creeping back in the right direction - hooray for free market advocates! However, the reality, as all economists will tell you, is that unemployment will continue to lag behind (if not slightly increase) for a long time to come. I'm not trying to be a party pooper; but instead, I'm just keepin it real witch'yall so as to not forget the masses of people living this current American nightmare on Main Street.
And since I'm traveling down the road of stir fried shit where many Americans currently reside - unlike the suits on Wall Street. Lemme show you much more the government themselves can have a significant impact in job creation. Let some people tell it, there's no way the government can create jobs. But, if you take a few minutes to watch the following short documentary created by an independent media source, you'll see differently. In it, you'll be surprised to see just how Mississippi Governor, Haley Barbour - one of many republican governors who condemned last years Stimulus Package - is using said federal funds to create jobs. Which isn't too bad for a fat redneck with an accent I might add; especially when he's considered a republican presidential hopeful in 2012; keep his hypocrisy in mind when he makes his run, and remember where you heard it first. Especially if you remember his speech this weekend at the recent SRLC (Southern Republican Leadership Conference) Klan Rally in New Orleans.
