The Cleveland Model: Job Creation, the Government, & the Hypocrisy of Governor Haley Barbour

Last week the good news was the pickup of the most jobs in one month in three years - 162,000 to be exact. Today the new hype is that the Dow Jones is slightly above 11,000 for the first time in a year and a half. Both are indicators of the economy slowly creeping back in the right direction - hooray for free market advocates! However, the reality, as all economists will tell you, is that unemployment will continue to lag behind (if not slightly increase) for a long time to come. I'm not trying to be a party pooper; but instead, I'm just keepin it real witch'yall so as to not forget the masses of people living this current American nightmare on Main Street.

And since I'm traveling down the road of stir fried shit where many Americans currently reside - unlike the suits on Wall Street. Lemme show you much more the government themselves can have a significant impact in job creation. Let some people tell it, there's no way the government can create jobs. But, if you take a few minutes to watch the following short documentary created by an independent media source, you'll see differently. In it, you'll be surprised to see just how Mississippi Governor, Haley Barbour - one of many republican governors who condemned last years Stimulus Package - is using said federal funds to create jobs. Which isn't too bad for a fat redneck with an accent I might add; especially when he's considered a republican presidential hopeful in 2012; keep his hypocrisy in mind when he makes his run, and remember where you heard it first. Especially if you remember his speech this weekend at the recent SRLC (Southern Republican Leadership Conference) Klan Rally in New Orleans.

WHAT WOULD JOHN McCAIN OR REPUBLICANS DO?

Look, I'm gonna get straight to the point on this one: Fuck you John McCain! Yup, there it is, I said it and I meant it. Can you believe the nerve of this guy? After the Stimulus Bill was passed on Friday, this is what he had to say on Sunday...

Sen. John McCain, R-Arizona, said Obama was off to "a bad beginning," out of step with the vow of bipartisanship both men made after Obama beat out the Republican presidential nominee for the White House in November.

"It was a bad beginning because it wasn't what we promised the American people, what President Obama promised the American people, that we would sit down together," McCain told CNN's "State of the Union With John King."

SOURCE

Bad start? Really? Out of step?

To quote the Great American President Abraham Lincoln...

"NEGRO PLEASE!!!"

Ok, well I'm not sure if that was a direct quote of his, but I'm sure this is what he would think after hearing what John McCain had to say. The fact of the matter is that Barack Obama, has done nothing but go out of his way, to court these republican assholes, to support the passage of this legislature. He fuckin met with them on more than one occasion, and even had some of them come to his crib for cocktails for crying out loud.

I don't know about you, but where I come from, when you invite people to your house for drinks, its considered a nice positive gesture. So how in the hell can this guy say that Obama went back on his campaign promise of bipartisanship is ridiculous. Hell, the majority of republicans on the Hill didn't even support the bill after concessions were made for their votes. But no, these pricks are not happy.

"The fundamentals of our economy are still strong"- John McCain

Remember when he said that last year in the middle of the economic shit storm? Remember when his then campaign chair Phil Gramm said that the American public were a bunch of whiners about the economy? Remember that shit? What I'd like to know, is if John McCain were president, how and what would he propose as the fix to this big mess. Thats what I'd like to know. So far I've heard nothing but a bunch of bullshit ideological same old talk from republicans on this. Hell, even here on this site, its as though they've all crawled out from under a rock to voice their discontent.

What's even more disheartening, is that they themselves can't offer a solution to the problem, but rather identify "problems" as they see it with what they have termed the "Spending Bill". Somebody tell these people that you gotta spend money to make money. Not only that, please tell them to at least offer us solutions rather than criticisms.

I mean, this is a Bill that is designed to jumpstart the economy on the demand side of things while investing in our future -- something that should have been done a long time ago -- but yet they're bitching about not being invited to the party. Hell, where were they when over a trillion dollars was spent in Iraq & Afghanistan? If you wanna talk about spending and fiscal irresponsibility, why don't we talk about the money wasted in Iraq all based on a lie.

SURE THERE'S PORK, BUT IT'S STIMULATING RIGHT?

Oh well, so much for bi-partisanship. There went a novel idea. In a country that's all but coming apart at the seams as jobs are lost, in an attempt for gov't to step in and do something positive, the Congressional Republicans all voted against the Stimulus Package. Can you believe it?

These are the same guys who were quick to loan your money to the bankers, only for the same bankers to turn around and have drunken sex on your dime. Not only that, these same bankers were recently caught on a conference call having a discussion of spending your money on conservatives to lobby against the upcoming Labor Bill Known as the Employee Free Choice Act.

Ain't that a bitch?

Here they are using your money to work against you. Yup, they're fighting to stop regular working people like me and you from being able to form unions. You know, unions who would have a positive effect on our lives by possible wage increases, health care etc. Can you believe this shit? Talk about corporate greed right? Yup, these same conservative assholes are on the side of big businesses, and are quick to dish out $750 billion last year, and to this day nobody seems to know where the money went, or why the banks still aren't issuing credit.

The economy is damn near down the drain, and it stinks to high heaven. And in steps Barack "The Magic Negro" Obama with his Stimulus Package trying to be the forever Mr.Nice Guy, and reach across the isle to these fucks, and he gets not one vote in support from them. Hell, he even made concessions for the assholes, but still nothing. I mean, what does it have to take for these people to get it?

Are we supposed to wait till there's only about 1000 jobs left in this country? People are losing jobs by the minute, and things are pretty bad. Its so jacked up that even hookers and pimps are at the unemployment offices across the country. Not only that, people are killing themselves, and entire families as a result of desperation and despair.

Is it gonna take more people jumping off buildings or doing the murder suicide thing to get some attention? There's a family all now laying in a Los Angeles morgue because of this shit. From what's been reported, both parents lost their jobs, and as a result, the husband lost it and took his family out. Now I don't condone what this man did. And yeah its easy for me to say that its never that bad. But I don't know jack shit about this man, his family, or what he was up against.

For all I know, there are probably hundreds of people out there who have probably thought about going out like that because they have nowhere else to turn. And in times like these, the only place you can turn to is the government. You know, the same people we voted for to represent us, or our best interest? You know, the same people who were influenced by corporate greed, or the people who financed their campaigns and stuff like that? Yeah, those people.

Just when I thought the spirit of bi-partisanship would usher in a new era of politics in Washington, I see nothing has changed, which is really sad. Sad for the people of this country. But more so sad because up until now, I made an effort to not talk shit about conservatives in hopes that they and the democrats can get their crap together and make it happen for the people. I guess I was wrong.

So what am I left to think about republicans in our gov't? I think they're probably some lousy sex partners, and probably boring as hell. Why? Its obvious they know nothing about stimulation and making sure we the people get ours after they've got theirs. Hopefully this gets through the Senate and becomes successful in fixing the economy. Surely if it does, these clowns will never be able to take credit for it. As bad as things are, I'd say it was a pretty risky move on their part with 2010 re-election right around the corner.
